These are not trade blocks but international governments that power over internal affairs of those countries.  We can get tarriff free zones with treaties like nafta so why do we need North American Trade Union?

Yes make a common currancy and give the EURO a run for its money....

The interests the three countries have are too different for us to form a "union". Plus, the country with the most squalor (Mexico) would drag the rest of us down with it; we humans tend to cater to the lowest common denominator these days.
