  1. No.

I think I should be due a refund on my council tax for loss of services, paid for by the savings on the reduced council wages bill.

Silly me, the Councils will probably give in and award us an inflation busting increase in next years council tax.

  2. No!Suppose these local government employees get all what they are striking for!Who is going to pay for it all?The pensioner;Who has it hard enough as it is!We are all feeling the'pinch' through Gordon Brown's failied political financial policies!

  3. I didn't notice there had been a strike. Obviously in Devon they didn't support it. Everybody deserves a decent wage, but that's not likely to happen in this country.

  4. No I don't as most council workers are on anything between 17 and 20 thousand a year, plus sick pay and work clothing, overalls boots etc. There are a lot of workers that arent getting anything like the council workers are earning just getting on with their work without a problem

  5. yes totally support it with a further sugestion,we should all be out on the street on strike untill we get this thieving smarmy lot out of west minster

  6. Government are not supposed to goon strike, that is a law for the oppress or the people.

  7. I was on strike on Wednesday and Thursday, for the first time in my life. When you compare what we have been offered to the pay rises MPs are getting yet again (doesn't the credit crunch affect them?), I couldn't even buy a button from John Lewis, never mind a new kitchen.

To those of you thinking that we are overpaid in the first place - I'll have to look for work over the holidays just to pay the rent.  Quite a few of us are.

So 6% is quite reasonable to ask for. Perhaps Alistair Darling could give up his Leonard Cohen CD collection to pay for it?

  8. If it brings down the Brown government, yes, I do.

Don't really have a lot of time for council jobsworths, but this time they might be useful.

  9. Instead of talking about percentages let us talk about actual wages,we are all having to tighten our belts, but a lot of workers are on reasonable incomes,so no I do not support any strikes.

  10. No i don't considering the whole of Britain is suffering, many people havent had rises for years and have been running well below inflation.

The problem with this is the only people who suffer from the strike action are the public the very people who struggle to pay the local gov wages through taxes. Then the services they have paid for gets taken away through strike action. Sorry but i think they should be lucky they are employed in today climate :)
