  1. If it fails again, it won't be because of a legitimate deadlock.

  2. Yes, it is possible, the numbers right now are 265 to 273 in favor of Obama.

If there is a deadlock, Congress gets to choose between the two, not a third person. Since congress is controlled by Democrats, Obama would win.

  3. Did you mean:" Do you THINK AN electoral COLLEGE DEADLOCK is out of the question?" IF that's what you're asking, a tie will be broken by Congress, so in essence there won't be a tie at all. But it won't elect a 3rd person.

A Dumbocrat Congress will elect Obama, a Repugnican Congress would elect McCain. Guess who's in power right now? Lacking a significant number of defections, Obama would be crowned er kinged er sworn in as Prez.

  4. Yes. I do.  McCain has made a BIG mistake.

  5. I think the electoral college failed last time by allowing Bush to be elected for a second time.  The electoral college was set up at a time when Americans were mostly illiterate and didn't have access to news.  It was meant to stop people from electing a stupid/proven unqualified president and was supposed to serve the best interests of the country.  Obviously that didn't work out.

It can also be said that the electoral college screwed us in the Gore election since Gore won the popular vote and Bush won anyway.  Many people are starting to think it would be better to simply go based on popular vote and do away with the electoral college since it obviously isn't doing what it was created to do.
