In disciplines like fashion design, jewelery, painting, acting, singing, modeling...always wins a nephew, favorite student or similar.

I would say that contests are to be avoided.They traumatize you and they rip your heart out.

maybe sometimes, but sometimes not... depends on the competition.  when it's an honest competition, it's often times based on personal taste.
