"I kissed a girl and I liked it"

you all know it right? you've all heard it 50 billion times.

Is the song an attention seek or is a good thing for the g**s and lesbians out there that the mainstream community has embraced the song?

In my opinion:

If the song was about a heterosexual kiss no one would care.

If a man sang "i kissed a boy and i liked it" i doubt it would be an international hit.

But because girls kissing girls is the latest craze, it's huge. a huge gimmick.

It bugs me because she's trying to sound s**y, but then she has to let us know she's got a boyfriend, it's basically saying "i kissed a girl... but i'm not a L*****n, i insist." because would the song be as ok if she was?

just interested in your thoughts. I may be completely wrong, feel free to let me know. Because all my L*****n friends seem to love it when that song comes on.

yahoo suggested i categorise this in wrestling. i'm intrigued...

  1. It's a gimmick.

She's using something controversial to further her fame.

  2. It's over rated, people are used to seeing girls kiss everyday.  Girls do not overly exaggerate their first time kissing a girl because it's so normal to see these days. Plus Katy Perry yells the song more than sing it which makes it worse.

  3. TERRIBLE.

    The song is terrible.

She's just furthering the 'only bisexual when drunk' stereotype. Pedaling young girls to make out with a best friend to turn their boyfriend on. To be part of the media.

It's lame. Bisexuality should not be a trend.

It ruins it for the gals and guys that truly are bi.

  4. "in the future, everyone will have their 15 minute of fame"-andy warhol

and katy perry, is pushing the snooze button a thousand times.

this song, is commercially driven, meant to appeal to mainstream taste. i mean, its hot to see to girls making out. right? thats the stuff of hetero fantasies (just check out porns).

but what the, everything is double edged.

maybe, this song would help in advancing the acceptance of g**s.

    i'll keep my fingers crossed

  5. i agree wit nd yea i think it is a gimmick to catch attention...cuz like before that song became "famous" i dont think anybody know who she is..well i dont...i think it is only a gimmick!!^^

  6. The song is basically about experimenting, but as you said, it's all in fun rather then something serious.

"It felt so wrong, it felt so right, *don't mean I'm INN LOVEE tonighttt*"

See where she says no love?

It was all in good fun. It's not a L*****n song. It's a song about a girl who had too much to drink and decided to experiment.

*I take back the fun part actually. As the girl above me said, it pushes stereotypes.

You have to admit it's catchy though! :)

  7. I personally think that her song is insulting to lesbians "It's not what,

    Good girls do"

I am a naughty girl... I kiss girls!

  8. its just her trying to get her 15 minutes of fame,

it would be really amazing if an actual (non faking) L*****n band actually did make it on the charts

I reckon the Cliks are an amazing band... yet no one really knows of them

  9. wow

    some of you are rude

and please if your gonna make a comment about katy perry

listen to all of her songs

    most of them are meaningful

idk why she chose i kissed a girl to be her first single

but google her songs up and answer your own question

cos for me shes good music...

    some songs youd might like:

    thinking of you

    mannequin

    fingerprints

    im still breathing

    hot n cold
