The defense lost 4 key players.  Losing strahan itself was a big blow to the pass rush.  Opposing QB will get longer looks in the pocket, and make better throws.  Shockey will also no longer be there to dump the ball off to.  

Worse yet the main rivals look to be even more talented this year.  Owens got another year to learn the offense and build chemistry with Romo.  The Defense landed PacMan.

all of the losses, with the exception of Umenyiora, were already planned for and, even at that, Kiwanuka, a natural DE, has stepped in.

I think they'll do good, but not like last year. They lost Kawika Mitchell, Gibril Wilson, Reggie Torbor, and Osi Umenyoria. Maybe a Wild Card spot. 9-7
