  1. I'd like to see it pushed up to 18.

Too many kids are getting into trouble, and one of the biggest reasons is the mobility a car offers.

You can get into a car with a bunch of your buddies and

just go looking for some 'action'. I think 16 is too young

to be responsible in a car- you're still a minor, you can't

be prosecuted as an adult- but you SURE AS HECK

can kill someone with your 3,000 lb. weapon.

(And I haven't even touched upon the high accident

rate young drivers have. Why should my insurance rates

be sky high because I'm helping to pay for young/bad

    drivers?)

  2. Yes, in my state you get your license (not permit but the actual license) at 14.

  3. yes i think it is because that way parents dont have to waste gas money on driving them places. =]

  4. It don't really mater the age, 16, 18, 21, what ever, If the person earns the car and is responsible then it should be OK to drive, Some parent get exited to be the one to help pick the kids car and just toss them the keys with out knowing if they really are ready. They need to learn the little things, Like when crossing an intersection, look both ways and then back again a few times to make sure it is clear, and when somebody is coming at you with the brite light on, then look at the line on your side of the road and you won't have spots in you eyes after they pass.So I say it is when they have the proper additude.

  5. Hmm! I think it would better if you start driving at early age and 16 is the best age to learn driving, because nowadays technology is rapidly growing and vehicles is upgrading, that is why we should be at trend of driving. learning in the early stage because you can gained more ideas and sooner you can apply it. As long you been taught correctly in driving rules then you can start driving at the age of 16

  6. No.....

    JULY 2008

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 20-year olds.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 3,490 drivers in this age group died in motor vehicle crashes in 2006 and an additional 272,000 were injured.

Drivers age 15- to 20-years old accounted for 12.9 percent of all the drivers involved in fatal crashes and 16 percent of all the drivers involved in police-reported crashes.

Twenty-five percent of teen drivers killed were intoxicated. In 2006 (latest data available) crashes involving 15 to 17 year olds cost more than $34 billion nationwide, in medical costs, property damage and other costs, according to an AAA analysis.

Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly. In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.

Immaturity and lack of driving experience are the two main factors leading to the high crash rate among teens.

  7. yes i think

my mom's boyfriend's teen drived a car in the philipppines and she was 16 years old

also i am 10 years old

  8. It makes me laugh when I watch TV and see 16 year old kids in Beverley Hills or the Hamptons driving round in 200hp+ Mustangs and Range Rovers. In the UK that wouldn't happen because you can't get insured on high performance vehicles even if you are super rich.

I think 17 is a reasonable age, but to save lifes on the road further driving tuition should be taught. There are so many accidents in the UK of 17 year old boy racers crashing on country roads etc and at night. Its quite a reported problem.
