  1. Depends on your mental state and your level of responsiblity im 15 and I think of myself as an adult over how I have seen 18 year olds act. I beleave age has nothing to do with being an adult.

  2. not sure....you can smoke and join the military at 18 but you cant drink a beer so 18 doesnt make much sense

  3. yea its still young i just turned 18 about 5 months ago....the way  i see it is that I'mm trapped between the stage of a child/teenager and an adult. There'ss not too much that you can do either really, I think the age your officiallyy an adult is 21.

  4. Yes I'm young, but I believe that I am mature enough to be considered an adult. Yeah I know there is plenty more to learn. There are some people that I know that are 25 and I don't think they are mature enough to be adults, but it all depends on the person.

  5. I'm almost 18 and I still feel like a kid...

  6. not necessarily..if you still plan on living with your parents for a bit longer and you are immature still then yes.

but if you are planning on having your own house soon, have your own job, and act like your age then its not young

  7. age doesn't matter, some people are over 18 and still act like kids and some of them are mature enough, but still, 18 is a good age to be considered an adult.

  8. Yes.  Fifty years ago, no.

Half the kids today over eighteen are still relying on their parents for money, guidance, tuition, car, food, etc...

Not that there is anything wrong necessarily with that, as I wasn't an adult when I was eighteen either, in reality.

So no.  25 is about when you become an adult.

But... this is just my opinion.

  9. no they dont

  10. actually depends on the individual. some people just have to grow up faster and do things for themselves. But for the ones who've had they're parents do everything for them to this age i would consider adults yet.

  11. no if u can fight in  a war how can u not be considered and adult

  12. It's all relative... I have met very mature 18 year olds and very immature 30 year olds.  I believe everyone 'becomes' an adult at different times.

Although the law says at 18 you are an adult... you cannot rent a car or drink legally.  But you can have a child and get married... or even serve our country!  So weird!

  13. who are you talking about when you say " you are very young and nieve"? did you mean naive???

i do think its kinda stereotypical to say something like that. every person is different and the development of maturity totally depends on each individual person. my husband is in the army and i am about to be a mommy and we are 19 and 20 right now but got married at 18. we were ready to be married at 18 and i dont regret it because our state of maturity was ready.

  14. polar bears stay with their mom for about a year. people use to get married when they were as young as 14. does this answer your question?

  15. technically you are but i agree

  16. hm, i don't know, i think 20 is a good age

  17. No.

  18. yea i think 21 would be good to be considered an adult

  19. well i think when you can spell naive you are an adult.

I think 18 is a good age, but 21 is better.

  20. Yes I do, most 18 year olds are so immature and cannot make proper decisions

  21. I hope that you're under 18 because if someone over 18, who can't spell "you're" "too" or "naive", is criticizing me.. that's sad.

  22. It is too young...Give it 5 more years

  23. It depends on the situation.  You should be able to continue your education on your own, take care of yourself, pay some bills, hold down a job, all things adults can do.  But marriage, having children, and even voting , Some 18 year-olds really are not ready for these adult responsibilities.

  24. yes. it should be 21.

  25. I think that it solely depends on the person.

  26. I think so too!!

  27. It depends on the person.  I don't think there is one magical adult age.

  28. i don't, it depends person to person, im 18 but try to learn from mistakes and try to understand others like and adult would but then again i know 30 year olds that still laugh at f**t jokes.

  29. You're calling people naive?  When you don't even know the difference between "too" and "to" .... and "your" and "you're"?

  30. No, in fact it is far too old.

The reason that people at 18 are naive and immature is because they are taught to be. Up until 1899, adulthood traditionally began much younger. Why do you think rites of passage (like Confirmation and Bar Mitsvahs) are given at 13? It didn't used to be that today you're a man, tomorrow you go back to 7th grade. No, you were a man. Go get married, take up a trade, and get to work.

Now people are treated like infants well into their late teens, and not taken seriously as adults until they're almost 30. It's no wonder people are immature when they're being treated like idiots. There's no reason to grow up, no incentive to it. You're still going to be treated like an idiot whether you're a Stoic or a Hedonist, so why not indulge? Society gives no credit where it's due, so why bother to live up to expectations no one really expects?

The way to make people more mature at 18 is to start treating them as adults when they're 13. Then by 18 they have five years experience with it and will be as mature as you expect someone 23 to be nowadays. It worked that way for almost 1900 years of Christian culture, 6,000 years of Jewish culture, and what, 12,000 years of Egyptian culture? I would think the people who built the pyramids knew what they were doing.

  31. yeah, but not to young to be able to make your own decisions.
