Depends on your income.  What types of things do you want to give your kids??  If you want them to have their own rooms and cars when they turn 16 or a full paid college tuition then you would have to look at your finances to see if that is possible.  I would like 4 kids.  They will not be wearing the latest designer clothes.  They will have their own rooms but they will not be getting a brand new car when they turn 16.  As for college we will save all we can and the rest we may have to finance.  However, all of this is worth it to me.  I feel that we can provide what they need in life and so that is our plan.

Is it really fair to put a price on the lives of three children?  People with three children just make do with what they have.  We have two now and things can be tough, but we're going to start trying to conceive baby 3 in a couple months.  Again, things will be tight, but managable.

I have three children, and they are expensive-not TOO expensive for us, but it certainly could be for someone with a lesser income.

It would also depend on what your lifestyle is.  I have a friend with ten children, and while finances are tight they have all of their necessities and they go on a vacation each year (camping) and several other "luxuries".

Someone that grows some of their own fruit and vegetables will have more disposable income for other groceries than someone who purchases all of that fruit and vegetables; someone that makes or purchases second hand clothes will have less expense than someone that purchases all of the brand name, full price merchandise.  It is all in priorities.

Children NEED food, shelter and clothing.  They do not NEED fast food, brand name clothes and they do not NEED the latest video game, electronic device, etc.

For me, 3 kids would be too expensive.  But for Joe Schmoe down the street, it may not be.

I have three kids ages 12, 10, and 5. I have been lucky enough to stay at home with them and my husband is a mail carrier. It all depends on your priorities.

We own a home, two cars, and the kids have what they need. Maybe sometimes we have to wait until payday to do something but my kids don't ever complain about anything that is in regard of not having things because they realize there are other kids that have nothing.

If you want to drive a Hummer and an Escalade and go on tons of vacations and put all of your kids' in daycare and have a ton of credit cards then yeah it might get a little expensive.

Depends on your income. My dad was a police officer and my mom was mainly a stay at home mom, but they managed to do just fine raising all 3 of us without struggling financially. We all have college accounts and we were never spoiled by them buying us tons of cr*p that we didn't actually need.
