Do you think AHS is an appropriate punishment for fighting?

Despite a thorough search of the Internet, AHS in the context of punishment was not found.  I do know, from experience, that punishing someone for fighting is inappropriate unless all other methods have failed.  Would you beat a dog for failing to come when you called?  I can guarantee that the dog won't come at all if you do.  Poor metaphor?  Best I could come up with...
