Question:

Do you think Actions speak louder than Words do?

I've always been the type of person that will SHOW people how much I love them, I've never been too much for words. My girlfriend on the other hands tells me 50 times a day "oh I love you SO much!!" but then does nothing to back that up. I told her that, and her response to me what that I don't let her buy me anything... I hate gifts, not my style. I told her if she did things for me like let my dogs out during the day while I'm working, or save me a piece of cake when her husband bakes one would be perfect. How can we come to some type of understanding. I'm not going to say "I love you" all day long, and I don't want her to buy me stuff that I'll never use and don't want.

We're in therapy now, but mainly for jealousy reasons (on her part.)

Any advice?

  1. i certainly think that sometimes action can speak louder than words and also vice versa.but in your case i don`t think it should make any difference.i know it may seem hard but i see no future here for you as she is married.you should make a clean break of it and try and find someone else who would appreciate your qualities and is free to accept what you have to offer.

  2. Speak up, the benefit of communication always comes along way and meanwhile give yourself a break from your ushaul generosity.

  3. I think actions do speak louder than words..sometimes..but overall I know when someone says something and their actions are different that they didn't mean it, as to me actions do speak louder than words...

Overall I know when someone says they'll do something and don't follow up ..that right there does show me proof actions do speak louder than words..

also, some things are easier said than done and it's not until one can say it and mean it, that it counts..

the count is when they show you non-verbally not verbally..

  4. I definitely believe that they do. Some one can say they love you, all day long. Doesn't mean they do. Words are cheap, and can come rolling off the tongues of some people like an express line. Show your love through all the big and little things you do. It's more believable that way. The same would apply in any circumstance. For instance in child rearing. I've heard mothers, scream and threaten spankings, but their kids still misbehave, because the words are idle threats. You are so right in your reasoning. Peace

  5. um well many people love buying gifts so im not really sure how to make them stop. lol

  6. it depends how loud you shout the words.
