  1. All it did was dig itself in a bigger hole.

  2. h**l yea Bush is the man, America is fine, anyone who thinks otherwise should move out of the US.

  3. Much worse off.  Police state.  Bushflation.

  4. NO WAY!

  5. We're certainly safer from terrorist attack, because Bush did not repeat the stupidity of treating terrorism as a criminal issue.

Besides, 8 years ago, we were in the midst of the Dot.Com recession of 2000.

    ------

And many of the underlying decisions that created economic problems we're experiencing today had their start 8 or more years ago.

  6. USA is going down .. it is not what it used to be and its getting worse as oil prices continue to rise, population grows and europe is getting stronger.

Europe is getting better and so is Canada.

  7. NO - much worse

  8. No, who thinks that?

  9. NO

but to some of the goofier answers up there. Oil demand has gone down not up...many oil countries are stockpiling due to slack demand. Refineries are voluntarily closing down periodically to keep supplies close to demand.

The only time NORAD was ever shut down was by d**k Cheney on 9/11...he was in charge. No other vice president was EVER allowed to command NORAD in "training exercises" it was his idea...you ever hear of Clinton allowing Gore to take command of NORAD? The Pentagon and Bush allowed him to do it. Just because Bush decided to ignore the NIE, the terrorism briefing by Richard Clark and Clinton's warnings etc etc etc. doesn't make him anything but what he is...a stooge.

  10. No

  11. No.

  12. I think most people will answer with a "no", but the question itself is very broad. 8 years ago we were 1 year away from being attacked on our own soil, leading to the death of 3,000 American citizens who were just going to work.

Prior to that we had terrorist attacks at a fairly consistent rate (though not as costly). Since that day there has not been one attack on our country. I put one vote in the better off category.

True we do have rising costs. Gas is at $4.69 a gallon here in Chicago. So, I'd say worse off. But that cannot be blamed on the President (which is where this question is leading us with the 8 year timeframe.) China and India are quickly becoming heavy users of oil and gas. As demand goes up so does the price. What brings the price down? More supply. Where do we get that supply? ANWR, the Coastal Shelf, etc. would be a good start. Why can't we get to our own oil supply? Envrionmentalists' baseless claims that this would destroy the world (or at least that portion of it.) Do you know who does have the right to drill 90 miles off of the Florida coast? China. Through Cuba. I'll go with worse off here.

We could go back and forth like this through a lot of issues, but the answer is, if you think about it, in some ways we are better off and in other ways we are worse off.

And there are a lot of reasons that factor into why this is true. Some involve the President, others do not.

  13. Well for one thing - the economy is better today than it was eight years ago.

Eight years ago our country was being subjected to a series of Al Queda terror attacks ever 15-18 months.

Ten years ago our President refused to allow an expansion of US domestic oil production in favor of alternative energy sources that he predicted would solve our energy needs by the year 2008.
