Do you think America should call football by its proper name?

Change the name of the league to Major League Football and just start calling it by its rightful name. Everywhere else in the world, it is known as football. That is what the sport is. You move a ball with your foot. This sport has been known as football for centuries. The gridiron game can change its name to tackleball or just plain gridiron.

If I became comissioner of the league, I would change the league name to The Major Football League, and put pressure on the USSA to change to USFA.

i think people should give this a rest. Why try and change things now and make things confusing. people would still be calling american football, football and soccer will still be called soccer by force of habit, which will cause confusion, especially for younger children who have already been taught to call it soccer. I dont see why this is such a big issue, its not like they're forcing you to call it soccer and its still the same sport regardless of what its called, is it not?

it's part of our language and culture i don't see why we need to change it just because the rest of the world calls it football. we don't care what other countries decide to call things. in the u.s, football is a totally different game from soccer. we can't just change that over night

Don't blame the American people, blame their media. If THEY don't know that the correct name of the sport is ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL how do you expect the common American to know?

Let's face it the American media even tell Americans that the super bowl has the biggest audience of any sport in the world and we all know that's B*LL S**t.

well in australia the Aussie Rules football league is called the AFL (australian football league) and they call assoc. football soccer.

A lot of nations call it soccer because they have other sports called football so I doubt it can happen.

It should be changed but it's never going to happen. "Football" doesn't make any sense as to why it's called what it is. The time the ball is ever touched by a foot is when the kicker...who in my opinion doesn't even count as a football player, just a guy who can kick a ball.
