Do you think Americans are living in fear unnecessarily?

If so, who or what is causing this fear?

No, do you know how stupid our government is and how much support we give to foreign countries to buld weapons, even WMDs.   We sold stuff to help Iraq to help it make Nukes and sold Anthrax to them as well.

I don't. Sure you have to be careful in some areas of town but you can't live your life feeling like something bad is going to happen at any time.

fear of what? crime, terrorism, taxes? Overall we all seem to be absorbed into our lives to care to much, we are only afraid of those when put into an unfamiliar situation, as in traveling in planes, down a busy street corner, or a new president.

Maybe a better word for it would be insecurity.  Our level of happiness and satisfaction is at a real low.  Industry is slowing, real estate, stock losses, oil profits, death in Iraq... How does the average person keep up with it all, cope with it all?   And of course the terrorism. If ever an entire country suffered from PTSD, it is us.  If we continue to live this way, we will self-destruct.

No, I am living in fear that my own government will not stop waging war on my way of life as an American.

It seems as if we are becoming a police state.

You have to get permission for ever little thing you do and then at the end of the year you have to fill out a tax form, like a good little servant explaining how you used what money and where for fear that armed IRS agents will literally bust down your door and seize your assets without trial (this happens folks)

And I am to be expected to believe that we must wage perpetual war or my way of life will be destroyed by a small group of fundamentalist over 2,000 miles away separated by an ocean that have no army, navy or air force? ABSURDITY

Just a fear tactic to further ensure that we do as they say.

Did you know the patriot act was written before 9/11 even happened? They are using our fear to control us, this is not a conspiracy, all governments do this. Why would ours be immune? Especially when we have weak complacent citizens who will not question anything.

The Military Industrial Complex- without fear they cannot justify their huge, unnecessary expenses. I'm not afraid of a one in 100,000 chance of being killed by a terrorist-the Plutocrats are merely worried about their investments- chances of being killed by an illegal are 100 times greater.
