Do you think Andrew Jones sucks or just hit a bump in his career?

I honestly think he sucks. Cause he always strikes out when ever he comes up every one boos him. He is the only Dodger who gets booed. And then one game he does ok and then the next game people think he is gonna do ok again but then he has to go and strike out or not catch a ball or some thing horrible that costs us the game. I really hate him!

  1. It's hard to tell.I feel he needs to study some videotape after this season, possibly play some winter ball and lose some weight, that is,if he really wants to get back to where he was.Perhaps PEDs play a part in his decline, who knows?

  2. how old is he

  3. when he cam to the dodgers, he was to be the savor.. the one player to get them a step closer to the world series, so every time he comes up he tries to hit hr. also dodgers werent like braves jones doesnt have the protection of chipper or who ever hitting behind him, if kent was actually hitting hr like he used to way back he would have at least 20 right now. now if torrie puts him in 3rd spot he would get alot more pitchs he can hit instead of breaking, sliders, etc.... out of the strike zone. he needs to do what manny does..just swing and make contact.

    two things.

    1. pressure of trying too much. and trying to hit hr at every at bat.

    2. no home run threat on team to protect him from behind.

  4. This is no bump. Andruw has never, ever , ever shown or had any discipline at the plate whatsoever throughout his career.

Yet his ability to be a consistent gold glove outfielder is what's keeping him around.

  5. Dude is only what, 31? 32?  He'll be fine. Pretty soon you Dodger fans will be rooting him on like anyone else.  I'm more than convinced he is just having a horrible, horrible season.

  6. Well, he sure as h**l isn't 31. He's playing like he's 40. I'd say his real age is about 33 or 34. Yeah Andruw is just being Andruw. He wouldn't listen to TP when he was in Atlanta. TP tried to give him tips on hitting and he wouldn't listen. Andruw Jones is just a walking strikeout. Good thing he can still play CF pretty decently. He should be batting 9th behind the pitcher though. If I had to choose between him or the pitcher in a RISP situation I'd choose the pitcher, that's how bad he is.

  7. everybody has a slump but when his contract ends he probably will be on another team

  8. Look at his stats since he became a full time starter in '97 he's averaged 90+ runs a season, 30+ home runs, 100+ RBI's, and he's a .260 career hitter, while he does strikeout he dosen't do so on the frequency of other power hitters. His biggest problem is he's lack of plate discipline, it didn't hurt so much in Atlanta where he had the protection of Chipper Jones, maybe with Manny now he might be a little better off seeing better pitches to hit, it also hurt him leaving the Braves and probably the one of the best hitting coaches in the game in Terry Pendleton.  Seeing as how he in only 31 years old he may be able to turn it around but I'm not so sure this is one of those years he might not ever be able to recover from.

  9. Hitting is not about how strong you are, it is about how well you see the ball. The above answers talking about HGH or some other drugs and call themselves Braves fan. STOP TALKING NON-SENSE.

The talking about Chipper Jones protecting him. Watching many Braves games, Braves fan?

Anyway, he sucks because he is not very good hitter. He over swing at times and could not see the ball very well and thus he get fooled at times by breaking balls. He is not good because he is not smart enough, not because he is any less strong. (Well, he is less strong now due injuries. Not drugs. He did use some drugs before, quoting by him saying that "everybody was using it". Probably true but you don't say that in news reports). He can be good once he got his head cleared and learn from Pat Burrel. If you cannot hit breaking ball, just give it up. Not that every pitcher throw breaking balls for strike anyway. Of course, hit everything right in the middle, but he probably cannot even see that is coming.

  10. Being a long time Braves fan, I was glad to see him go.  I think steroids play a part.  He bulked up too much early in his career.  Decided that power was the way to do and it messed up his whole body.  If he lost some weight (and muscle) I think it would be great for him.

  11. Jones' decline boggles the mind. You have a 31-year-old man who should be in his prime and he's setting career offensive lows across the board.

I don't recall seeing his name in the Mitchell Report but you have to wonder if maybe he wasn't using steroids up until last year. I know that it's a convenient excuse for players who have seen a sharp decline in their offensive numbers but I see no other plausible explanation for why this former All Star is underperforming now.

  12. He forgot to give the HGH supplier in Atlanta his new number in Los Angeles (FYI it's 213-STR-IKE3) extention You're out!

  13. Let's put it this way, Jones is hitting about .170, my 10 year old nephew can do that.  I bet he was on the juice during the 40+ HR years.  He can't catch up to a change-up without that stuff.  Next year he will either be out of baseball or the first $100 million minor leaguer.

  14. Sucks- he's had not one, but two crazy injuries this year:
