I love the name Ella, but it is pretty common right now. I found Ariella on babynames.com and though it was perfect. However, after looking in anwers, I saw a few comments of people who thought it sounded like Aerola. I dont want the poor child to be teased!

  1. i don't think it sounds like that unless i am pronouncing it wrong.

  2. no

  3. i think ariella sounds really pretty.

  4. I never noticed, until you said so.

  5. I don't think so at all... I love it!

  6. No, it doesn't. It's a very nice name.

And even if it does, most kids don't know what areolas are. By the time they hear the word for the first time, and figure out what it means, they will probably be too old to make fun of a person for something like that.

They really don't sound much alike anyway.

Ariella is one of my favorite names.

  7. Um...

Well, it depends. Certain regional accents will make your daugher sound like a nipple. Others won't. Also, if she's a popular girl or very pretty (I'm sure she will be), people probably wouldn't care if her name was plain old Boob. But if kids decide to be jerks and make fun of her, they'll look for something, anything to tease her for, and of course they'll call her Aerola.

I might change the spelling a little if I were you.

  8. no it doesn't

and nobody would ever think of that

although i do prefer the name arielle despite the obvious mermaid connection

my dad refused to let my mum name me anastacia because he was convinced people would tease me and call me anesthetic...

  9. I think it is a very pretty name and do not think it sounds like Aerola.  I once met a child with a name that was pronounced "Sha-teed" and spelled "shithead", so trust me, I dont think you will have a problem with your little girls name.

  10. Lol, i honestly wouldn't have thought that if you hadn't pointed it out, but who knows how clever highschool kids will be when she gets older. Are you pronoucing it Are-E-ella? or Airy-ella?

  11. I don't see how Ariella sounds like Aerola. And I am not even sure young children in school would know what an areola (is that what you mean?) is yet. Ariella is a pretty name, and I doubt she will be teased for it.

  12. Ariella sounds nothing like Aerola

    Ar-He-Ella

    Air-Ola

    Completely different

    Ariella is a gorgeous name

    xx

  13. Slightly, yes.

    I prefer Ariel. It's lovely.

  14. The word isn't spelled that way, hon.  But yes.  I don't like Ariella anyway.  I think Ariel is nicer, and it's SO unique and uncommon.  But it's nice in the sense that it's not made up like some names are these days.

  15. i never would have though of that if you wouldnt have mentioned it.

  16. i never would have thought of it. wut is areola?
