  1. i think they should sever all political ties with england

  2. I think there is a very good chance they will choose  republic..

I`ve spent quite a lot of time in Australia and they are not fond of the monarchy..

To be honest as a Brit I think it would be touch and go if they stayed if we had a referendum here...

they are anything but popular and I think Charles marrying Camilla didn't enhance their popularity a jot...

  3. I hope so.  I'm an American, so maybe I don't have much to say about it, but I'm also one of those "British ancestry" types, and even after 400 years, many of us are still fond of the Queen.

  4. I don't think that Australia would keep the Monarch.

  5. Yes it will definitely become a republic within the next 10-20 years. We had a referendum on it about 8 years ago and the only reason it was a NO vote was the model they put forward to use was horrendous. Was really odd and barely democratic. I want to be a republic but I had to vote NO because it was stupid.

Sooooo... as soon as they can get their butts into gear (probably is a fair chance with this new labor government) and come up with a workable option for a republic we will be there.

It is only some of our old, British ancestory types that are still wanting to be a monarchy. That said I do enjoy the Queens Birthday holiday long weekend in June. Mind you I guess we would find a public holiday elsewhere.
