I read that their economy has suffered for decades and they are technologically behind the rest of the civilized world. Instead of running the risk of becoming a Third World country, do you think they would consider becoming part of the United States?

  1. A thrid world country??? L O L ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME??? lol lol Mate, the USA is closer to third world than Australia - you only have to take a quick look at your levels of POVERTY in each and EVERY state

  2. I doubt it just cause you stuffed your country up economy wise exausted all your resources and let every Tom d**k and Harry in.

We are only 200 yrs old we have it  ahead of us but thanks for showing us what not to do we will be sure to learn from your mistakes.

  3. Yeah...when New Zealand becomes the ninth state/territory of Australia.

  4. no wonder most of us Aussies think you are arrogant fools. it's bad enough that you dragged us into a senseless war with your lies and propaganda.your bad economy. what's worse is we have to suffer your TV programs as well. to the fool who said we are not under English rule , maybe he should tell our Governor general that . unbelievable

  5. Absolutely not. Australia is nowhere NEAR becoming a third world country.

  6. As likely as the USA becoming the 7th state of Australia.

  7. Where did you read our eceonomy is suffering? Wrong information. Now it is suffering bit from high interest rates but the interst rates are so high because the economy is good an the govermnent wants to curb spending. Also, we are suffering because of the BAD american economy, the effects of the subprime mortgage fiasco is widespread with banks here having invested in the USA. SO while you have low interest rates (because your ecenomy is bad) we have hight rates because our economy is good! Technologically we only suffer because the number of people here means there is not the same competition so the prices are higher. Country areas away from cities don't have the same choices when it comes to broadband and speeds are not so fast but we only have 20 million or so people in a country not much smaller the USA.

Also read the facts about which countries are considered the best in terms of quality of life and you will find Australia near the top of the list. Life is not all about having the best technology, the biggest houses and cheapest goods....there is more to life than that and we have it here in Australia!

  8. As an Australian i can honestly say we would never become apart of any other country we love being Aussies and as for economies you really should look at your own with the sub-prime lending you guys are about to slip into recession and probably drag most of the world along for the ride. I don't know where you got your info but you have no idea we have all the technology you have, our scientists are among the worlds best.

  9. you must be joking, id rather live in poverty then become part of the US

besides the US is falling fast, and not well liked at all

keep ya country to yourself and keep it out of the rest of the world  troll

  10. No, not till h**l freezes over.

We like having decent health care, education, wages etc available to all and not just a select few.

I don't know what you've been reading but it's all WRONG!

Probably written by one of your countrymen.

  11. Never- I would leave immediately.

  12. I think Australia is perfectly content being Australia.

  13. Considering the US is in recession Australia may consider making the US another part of there collection of islands.

Maybe even to make it where we send our crims.

  14. Third world?  They bailed your asses out in the vietnam war.

I'm sure that since they gained independence from the UK the last thing they would want to do would be to live under another country thousands of miles away.

And Australia is no longer controlled by the UK as the above poseter stated.

  15. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Australia is its own continent, and we have our own states..

We dont want to be part of America anyway :) You guys stuffed up your country, it wouldnt be wise if Australia joined.

Now we know what we shouldnt do.

  16. Not at all. Australians are very proud of being independent, and I cannot see this happening. I know it's not true, or fair, but we kind of view americans as being overweight, lazy people who are very ignorant and believe they are the only people in the world (this isn't my view, just the average people in the country).

I believe that we will also become a republic and move away from the queen's rule now that we have a new Prime Minister, which i think is a very good thing.

  17. You are a moron! Do you even know anything about the economy here in the states? You should really keep your thoughts to yourself when you are this uneducated.

  18. Uh... I'm fairly sure that Australia is not on the verge of becoming a Third World country. The Gross Domestic Product per capita is quite high, and the unemployment rate is low. Also, I have heard nothing about Australia being behind in terms of technology.

To be honest, I rather doubt they would become a part of the USA even if they were in a state of economic crises.

  19. Oh dear yet another American either too lazy to look up the facts or too stupid to understand them.

Perhaps the US should choose to join the world and get a modern education and health systems.

Well there’s only one gesture you’ll get from us, see if you can work out which one it is

  20. We no longer have John Howard as Prime Minister and most of our constitutional freedoms have been restored, so I don't think that there is much chance of that - Australia is Australia and America is America.

Where did you read that Australia has a rubbish economy. I would also like to read that article.

I think that the only thing that would get the ....American Congressional membership thinking about such a move, would be if the U.S. had real trouble in THEIR economy. We are just too far away from each-other in distance, as well as lifestyle.

We started out a convict outpost, after the British Parliament said that Australia was of little worth, so why after that initial treatment, would Australians even consider allowing another country to set our rules of existence, all over again?

In response to the additional info, the U.S. would actually be the big winners here - financially, that is. Australia is resource rich.

  21. NO?

    its so far anyways.

i dont even consider hawwii or alaska as being states.

and australia is so big it would be half the united states!

what is africa going to become a state too?

    seriously

  22. Nice of you to think of us but Australia is nowhere near a 3rd world country nor are we lagging behind in technology  you have your lines crossed somewhere.

  23. I wonder why others hate us Americans until I read something like this.

  24. HEHEHEHEHEHAHAHA. You really felt like starting something. I guess you've had your laugh by now. Wouldn't USA love to have Australia as one of their States. Oh my god they would be rubbing their hot hands getting them on all our natural resources. Anyway USA and Australia are good friends.

  25. You are an idiot.

The Australian dollar is virtually on par with the American dollar.

    Don't insult us.

  26. Wow! This has to be a joke question surely. Australia is in a great shape economically compared to the US. We actually have a surplus budget compared to the massive US debt, see link below. At the rate of increase of the deficit owing to the housing crisis and the Iraq war it won't be long before the US is a colony of Japan and Europe, who pretty well own most of your big businesses now.

A very silly question from an arrogant, ignorant person. Better for US to become an appendage to Australia.

  27. Porta - oops, I mean PUERTO Rico isn't even a U.S. state, so there's no way that Oz would ever join. Btw, technology is advanced there, the economy is strong, and they're an <independent> nation, not British territory.

  28. I doubt it. Since Australia is a continent, I don't think so. Who knows...but I highly doubt they would. It would be really hard to change all the text books, ha-ha. and their would only be six continents...it would be too confusing.

  29. Why would australia become a US state? We're under British rule anyway, not American. Would you like every country in the world to become a US state? geez.. you think you own everything.

Australia's economy has not suffered for decades, that information is wrong. Also, we are not technologically behind the civilised world, have you ever been to Australia? Believe it or not, our country actually has cities, its not just farms and the outback like everyone seems to think. The majority of Australians dont even like Americans because most of you seem to think we know nothing here and we spend all our day at the beach.

So no, we would not consider becoming part of the united states.

  30. Hahaha, what?! My country is no where near becoming a third world country. As much as I love America, I love being Australian. America is big enough as it is, without having a floating continent too. We were settled by Britain anyway, so why would we join the USA? If anything, we'd become more of a part of Britain.
