On a related note do the three big sports stations in Canada (TSN, RSN, The Score) spend to much time with so-called insiders and their opnions. It seems that they're hardly ever right.

  1. No.

As long as the Samueli's want him, he wants to stay in Anaheim. And the Samueli's want him.

  2. I think he will.  I also think he'll be in for a shock when he sees how things are really run in T-O.  He won't stick around and take part in the joke that is MLSE management.  He has too much pride in himself to become a puppet for Tannenbaum and Peddie.

And you're right, these "experts" do often seem wrong.  I don't think it's entirely their fault though.  When you're asked to go on air every day and say something interesting about a sport that is down to only two teams (and all activity is frozen until those teams conclude the Stanley Cup final), you have to go out on a limb and make wild predications.  The networks needs to tone down on hockey and spend more time on other sports.  Give the other "experts" a chance to s***w up too!

  3. As a Leafs fan, I can say that although Brian Burke is about 6th on my list for choices as a President GM, he will be the President GM before training camp opens next fall.

I only hope that he doesn't bring his bum boy Bertuzzi with him. In spite of everything else Toronto has too much class for that idiot.

After all the fan's favourite in Toronto, Dominic Moore, has a bit of a problem with Bertuzzi.

Any President GM who is given the freedom from interference that Colangelo has been given will succeed. with the money that is available. The cap is a hindrance and the Muskoka Five are a difficulty but these can and will be over come.

Toronto is not a bad team they are a mediocre team. They don't have any more NTC (no trade contracts) than any other team it is just that the media has decided that these were bad contracts and had to be terminated.

If a bad team (fill in your own blank) had the media influence and exposure that Toronto has the coaches and GMs would either commit suicide or would have been hung by now.

How many other teams not in the playoffs have a daily headline in the paper about the team's manager search.

    Welcome to Toronto.

  4. No, and now I honestly hope not. I'm tired of these d**n rumours.

  5. Yeah, he will leave Anaheim in a Salary Cap mess before its all over, trying to get one more Cup out of them. I believe that Nieds and Teemu will give him that one more chance. They got alot more time off this summer than last and I think they will be ready to go come fall. So, Burke messes up their Cap Room badly trying to get another Cup then leaves for Toronto..... as the ultimate PROJECT!

  6. In some years to come.

  7. I doubt it. He said in a press conference that he will remain with the Ducks for the duration of his contract (1 more year) and they are trying to work on an extension.

By the time Burke is free in a year, I suspect the Leafs will already have a GM locked up.

I find TSN is great with insider sources actually. Their site has all the most likely rumors and stuff.

  8. My crystal ball says after his contract w/the Ducks is up he'll be packing.
