Do you think C. Thomas Howell is irreplacable as Ponyboy Curtis?

I think so.I hope many of you have seen the movie "The Outsiders".According to me,nobody can be a better Ponyboy than C. Thomas Howell.The way he looked.The way he acted.Everything was so perfect.As if he brought Ponyboy to life straight out of the book.Although I'm not a C. Thomas fan,I can't imagine anybody else playing Ponyboy Curtis.Amazing casting.What do you think?

No one could replace C. Thomas Howell! It wouldn't seem right, at all. I'm like you, I'm not exactly a C. Thomas fan, but I love him as Ponyboy Curtis! ahhh, I love that movie! and book. :)

I've seen the movie, and I agree with you that Howell did a great job playing Ponyboy.

However, it's been so long since it came out that if anyone remade it, they'd probably need an entirely new cast, and Howell leaves pretty large shoes to fill for his role.  You have a point, but there would have to be somebody else playing Ponyboy.

It would be a nice touch, though, if they had the "kid" actors from the original doing cameo spots as adults in a remake.  My $.02 worth!

I would never say any actor is "irreplaceable", but I do agree that he really nailed that role.

If they did a remake now, I cannot think of an actor now that would be good in that role, but think if they had remade it several years ago, Ashton Kutcher could have also nailed the role, but he is too old for it now.

C. Thomas Howell is the only Ponyboy Curtis I could ever imagine.

Great book, great movie, great cast!!!
