I'm waiting for results if I could go to Canada (with my family) and I'm just wondering, will it be a better life there?

  1. depends on what is better for you.  remember that Canada does not recognize your degree when you move, so if you're a doctor, engineer or a professional it will be hard for you to get a job in your field.  i believe that wherever you go, you are the one who's going to decide how succesful you are going to be.

  2. To answer you question - absolutely!

Canada is a much better place in terms of standards of living, education, and job prospects.

As long as you're ok with a future that includes snow, you should have a good life.  Study hard and be ambitious.

There is a big Phillipino community in most of the big Canadian cities.

  3. h**l yeah, Canada is a great country, I'd move to Canada right away without thinking too much unless you come from Australia, New Zealand, the UK or Scandinavia

I personally did that and I'm really happy here !!!

yes it may be hard to get a good job in the beggining but u'll eventually get it, there are a lot of government services to help newcomers

  4. I personally have had many Phillipino friends that live in Canada, and they have mixed opinions about Canada. To be honest, I'm not sure if the standard of living here will be better for you or not. I guess it depends what you are coming from.

For one, there is a lot less an emphasis on community in Canada than in the Phillipines. You really don't usually get to know your neighbours.

As well, it is hard to make a living in Canada for immigrants because their education is not at all recognized. Most people that come over from the Phillipines have degrees, and they work far below their professional level when they get here. For the first few years, many of them are required to work in domestic labour, and after that, they work at jobs far below their educational level because they have to obtain new accreditation when they come to Canada.

And thirdly, it is quite expensive to live here. The dollar does not go that far. We have to spend a lot on fuel because it is a cold country, and on transportation, because it is a big country with few people.

I love Canada, but I don't like how they treat immigrants.

If you wish to come, I'm sure you will do fine, but try to make sure you do research ... I think a lot of people come, and are quite disillusioned.

Feel free to email me through Yahoo if you have any other questions. I don't mean to discourage you, but just trying to give you a realistic picture of some of the potential problems with Canada.

EDIT: from reading your other question, I see that you are already coming to Canada. In that case, I would answer the question differently. Your job prospects might be better here if you are a young person just starting out, because you will obtain a Canadian education, and have many opportunities. Good luck with the move!!! You will do fine!!!
