I read this very interesting article in the New York Times a few days ago:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/12/us/12hate.html?scp=1&sq=free+speech+Canada&st=nyt

And it got me thinking, should Canada have such a Free Speech Amendment as well?

What do Canadians think about it?

  1. It is already included in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, under section 2(b).

  2. Actually freedom of speech is limited in Canada. Google hate speech and Canada and you will find how the Canadian gov't limits free speech in Canada.

It's a shame. Free speech is one of the most basic human rights and it's very limited in Canada.

  3. h**l yea

  4. Don't need it.

  5. I think we are doing just fine without adopting any american policies......................I don't see why we need more laws to protect those who like to speak out in hatred in public.
