Do you think Carnival is going to get sued?

In 2011, the Carnival Magic will be added to their fleet. Do you think that Disney is going to sue because they already have a DIsney Magic?

No.  Royal Caribbean has the Freedom of the Seas and the Liberty of the Seas.  Carnival has the Carnival Freedom and the Carnival Liberty.

Later this year Carnival will begin taking passengers on the Carnival Splendor.  Royal Caribbean has the Splendor of the Seas.  

Princess has the Star Princess.  Norwegian has the Norwegian Star.  

Carnival has the Carnival Legend, Royal Caribbean has the Legend of the Seas.  

Costa (owned by Carnival) has the Costa Magica.  Disney has the Disney Magic.

Costa has the Costa Europa.  Hapag-Lloyd (a German luxury line) has the Europa.  

Royal Caribbean has the Jewel of the Seas.  Norwegian has the Norwegian Jewel.  

Royal Caribbean has the Mariner of the Seas, the Navigator of the Seas and the Voyager of the Seas.  Seven Seas Cruises (as luxury line) has the Seven Seas Mariner, the Seven Seas Navigator and the Seven Seas Voyager.

Norwegian has the Norwegian Dawn.  Princess has the Dawn Princess.

Norwegian has the Norwegian Majesty.  Royal Caribbean has the Majesty of the Seas.

Norwegian has the Norwegian Spirit.  Carnival has the Carnival Spirit.  

Norwegian has the Norwegian Sun.  Princess has the Sun Princess.

The point being that similar names have already been given to cruise ships.  If such was going to cause litigation, it would have happened long ago.

It's impossible to put a trademark on such a common word as Magic, I'd think. It's prefaced with "Carnival".

Nope.  If you look, Carnival and Royal Caribbean have similar names, check freedom, spendor, and liberty.  The branding is what makes them allowed, Carnival Magic and Disney Magic are two diferent names.
