There has been proven statistical research associated with parenting time and Child Support. Where in a more fairer and equitable a system, relationships and CS collections improve. Do you feel that Dads (or Moms) paying Child Support deserve to have a deduction by the IRS, thus improving CS payments collections and providing an 'economic stimulus package' (popular these days) to the person paying?

  1. This has been left to state law. I don't see the federal government trying to administer child support payments. So changes would need to be made at the state level. Some states do a better job than others.

  2. Ah, I think that depends on something else.

Is the money that a parent spends directly in the upbringing of their child deductible?  If not, then neither should Child Support be.  If so, then perhaps it should.

    My two pence.

  3. If they have proof of payment and proof that they're keeping insurance on the children, i think they should get deductions for both of those things.
