Do you think China's cheating in the olympics?

I believe so. I mean look... There is no way an country can be that good at everything. Especially in the gymnastics, today US got in a tie with China and they just happen to give it to China. For diving they give the most points to China. And it just happens to be in Beijing, China. What do you think. I think China doesn't deserve the medals, I believe they didn't earn them fairly.

  1. I believe something in gymnastics and diving isn't fair. Watching tonight the commentators for both sports commented after individual scoring that China scores were too high and others too low.

Plus, the 9 or 10 year old China gymnast.

I know there is cheating by athletes from many countries, but it seems to be more organized and sanctioned from the Chinese on their own turf.

Maybe not, I just saw they gave S. Johnson a good score on the balance beam.

  2. No, most of the Chinese Olympians starting training for sports like gymnastics from a very young age, they won the medals fair and square.

  3. Absolutely look at the girl gymnastics they are saying there 14 when the U.S. found proff that there 16 yrs old .What can you expect from a comunist country ?

  4. Com'on! it seems you're sort of jealous~

gymnastics and diving have always been superiority of China,no matter it happen in Beijing

just look back to te previous Olympic Games

  5. I don't know. Bela Karolyi has questioned the professed ages of the Chinese girls. So has Nadia Comanici's husband, also a gymnast and announcer at the 2008 games. The first Chinese girl on the uneven bars tonight looked like she could be in my 10 year old nephew's grade easily. There are small people, and then there are what are obviously little children. Not only that, but she should not have won. This view was also expressed by the announcers.

    TWO WORDS: Nastia Liukin.

Tomorrow, after they "allow" her to win the gold in the balance beam, she should have 4 gold medals.......but she will only have 2.

Her gold medal on the uneven bars was stolen. Outright. No question.

All 3 young women were magnificent in their floor routines. Nastia had the additional grace, musicality, complexity, and just all around beauty to her performance though. She should have won.

Some other words to consider: If you are Chinese, you can fall on the floor, and oust the girl who did not fall, out of getting a medal. Amazing.

  6. If you watch the Olympics you will see that the majority of judges are all from different countries of the world and not from China.  If you understand how they select the judges and how the scoring system works you will understand that no person can win unless the majority of the judges all score high marks for whoever wins.  Averages win, not single scores from any country.

Having said this, you should also educate yourself in regards of how Chinese athletes train and live.  Unlike some countries of the world where athletes are not supported financially, China develops their athletes at a very young age.  Their food, housing and education are all designed and paid for to support their athletic training.  Combine this with a huge pressure to succeed in their homeland and the highly competitive drive of the Chinese people and you have a successful medal take for China.

Do any of the people writing or reading know that China has scored 3rd overall in Greece and Sydney and 4th in Atlanta and Barcelona?  With the host country boosting its medal output on average of 15% it’s about time that China take 1st or 2nd overall in medal count in their own homeland.

But to you ignorant and uneducated readers and writers China’s medal counts most be some sort of international cheating scandal, a conspiracy of global proportions.  Of course it is!  All judges from all over the world are biased towards the Chinese athletes.  Why did I not see this before?  I mean it’s obvious that Russian, Canadian, American, Ethiopian, Spaniards, Iraqi’s and the rest of the very culturally diverse judges all favor the Chinese.  Why wouldn’t they, Chinese are the best in the world and everyone loves the Chinese so much they are willing to disgrace their own countries and face international fines and penalties all in the name of helping China cheat.  It all makes sense now!

  7. Any event that's judged is subject to unfair bais towards a given athlete or country.  Judges can be bought, it's happened before.  Just ask Bella Caroli - he certainly hasn't minced any words on this subject!

  8. I can't believe all the anti-American comments I always see here.

First of all, stop accusing the Americans of being jealous.  This is China's first year ever to win in gold medals!  Wow!  The Americans have been doing this for years!  Why would we be jealous of China?

Second of all, you have to admit that it is kind of odd that China is suddenly THAT good.  And their disproportionate amount of gold medals when they are behind us in the overall count is pretty unusual as well.  If you look down the list every other team has more bronze and silver than they do gold.  China has more gold than bronze and silver combined.  I don't think this has ever been precedented.  And there are plenty of other reasons to speculate as to why they are cheating.

Third,  what is with all this talk about how "the Chinese have always been good at this stuff".  No they haven't.  Do you remember Russia's gymnastics teams?  How about America's?

Last, China has a culture of cheating.  They constantly steal technology from the West and claim that they invented it.

  9. Look at the question.  More baseless accusations which can't be proven.  This is becoming the Whining Olympics.

Instead of losing like sore losers, why don't you look at your obesity problems.  How about not falling on your butts, be a little more coordinated, and lose some weight?

  10. this has been one of the most interesting olympics

anyway, the chinese divers have always been the best in the world, in 2004 the only reason they did not sweep all the gold medals was due to one of the chinese messing up very badly, and then 3 other nations s******g up themselves, which allowed the greeks to SOMEHOW get gold, hopefully that wont happen this time and china will be able to get all 8 gold medals

the gymnastics judging is messed up, the chinese always happen to have a higher score than they deserve, chengfei got bronze for vaulting instead of alicia sacramone even though chengfei fell twice, this was primarily because chengfei has a reputation for being the best in vaulting in the world and the bias of the judges led to her bronze, along with their incompetency, however i felt bad that she did not win gold and that she screwed up because she is the best, and if it happens that all the UNDER 16 year old gymnasts are swiped of their medals she should herself have a gold medal

the tiebreaking rule for uneven bars final is ridiculous, but china won not by cheating but because of the rules that all the gymnasts were following, im glad however that nastia liukin did not win gold

nastia is a good gymnast, but her personality disgusts me, she thinks shes so superior to everyone else like the chinese gymnasts and shawn johnson, she seems as if she is constantly sneering, shawn johnson should have won all around and i am glad that shawn johnson won balance team gold, im pretty sure many others agree with me

  11. I think your right! Odd how they were never the best til the olympics came to their home country. Oh and weird how underage, flexible gymnasts can win more medals. I think all those girls should be disqualified and stripped of their medals (for being underage and lying about it) along with any other athlete who got points when it was obvious they didnt do as good a job as someone from a different country. I was watching the  2007 preliminaries for gymnastics, this chinese girl fell off the beam twice and got first place, when shawn Johnson did the same thing and got last. Funny huh?

  12. The only thing I think that has been unfair so far is the women gymanstics. I believe many girls were being judged unfairly from quite a few countries. I disagree with you in the diving however, they are very good at that and they do do better than everyone else. From past Olympics this can also be viewed as a fact. But I think the gymanstics was the biggest s***w up.

And enough with Michael Phelps and the doping. The boys body was made for swimming and he works hard 365 days a year for his accomplishments. And as you see, it wasn't an easy feat. From my professional point of view I do not see and phyiscal signs that say otherwise.

  13. They did not just happen to give it to China,  They followed the messed up new rules that say no ties allowed anymore.  This will explain it better for you http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/ol...

It had nothing to do with what country was involved

And the Guo was much better .in the diving, as were Lin and Huo. Everyone expected the gold medals to go to the Chinese as they have been continuously winning in diving.  Did you listen at all to the commentary that explained each dive?

Now if you want to talk about underage for gymnasts that is a whole different subject.  And in vault Alicia should have gotten the bronze.  But that was not bias or or China being involved in judging.  Bela Karoyli explained that some judges are not as competent as others, but that does not mean bias or bribery.

  14. I don't think know about the scoring, but I think China is cheating on its women's gymnastics team is filling with little kids below the minimum competitive age of 16.  It's obvious to everyone, and they must be stupid if they think that the whole world doesn't notice.

  15. THEY DEFINITELY ARE CHEATING!!! Did you see a CNN report on the concerns the governments have because of the Chinese gymnastics team? most of the girls are listed as 14 years old and Chinese are covering it up by saying they're 16, she was born on the 1st of January, 1992, while really she was born in 1994...LOAD OF **** IF YOU ASK ME

  16. Don't they deserve something?

  17. CHINA ARE CHEATERS!!!!!..Communists!!!!

  18. I totally agree, you bet their cheating, notorious for steroid use, and yes mostly chinese judges, need i say more.

  19. I find it hilarious that everyone says that China is cheating as if it is the first country to ever cheat. Marion Jones anyone? IF china is cheating (which is likely), they certainly aren't the first or the last country to cheat in the olympics.

Also in the gymnastics, they gave the gold medal to He because of the tie breaker rule (Nastia got a higher B judge deduction score) which is how tie's in gymnastics are sorted. And the Chinese divers were incredible!

  20. I think tha tonce again, americans are being sore losers, for noe thing, they're not the best in every category, they train since they were 3 years old making them amazing in gymnastics and they didnt just "happen" to give the gold to china, they were better and won it fair and square, adn it has nothing to do with being the host of the olympics becausee they were alwys good at all of these events. I cant wait for the olympics to be in london and the chineese still kick you *** ,then what are you going to say, that the chineese bribed london? Give it up

  21. I think there's absolutely no doubt now that the Olympic judges have been leaned on.

  22. I dont know, there has been no hardcore proof, just speculation

however i do know that the US cheated in Athen, by letting Marian Jones compete when she was doping

  23. I have been following this with great interest.  Piece tonight that Bob Costas ran regarding it.

China is not cheating.  All judges are not Chinese.  The ages of the girls are a whole other issue, though.

Four of the judges are from countries that never medaled (as per Bob Costas) and Marta Karoli said that the Australian judge was wrong about a deduction.

The scoring system is NEW.  The NEW scoring system has a specific way to determine a tie.  It is NOT based on anything remotely associated with commonsense.  They throw out the high and low at the beginning and then there's more elimination if there's a tie.  The method was "picked out of a hat" to quote Costas and he's right.  The IOC needs to review that procedure.

    But China didn't cheat.

  24. so i guess the US was cheating with all those golds they won in the 2000 olympics(hosted in sydney), 2004 olympics(hosted in athens, greece). right?

  25. Oh ya!! I said this from the start! I have been watching the Olympics every night.. and it always seems some how in the judging comps that China gets the lead.... I just seen on the news about an hour ago, how for the womens vault. China ended up still getting a medal for 3rd, even after she landed on her knees, she messed up at the start cause her hands were apart, she wasnt square and her legs went together... But ya, she still get a medal! What the heck is that.. that other girl should of gotten it for sure.. its so messed up!

  26. how can they be cheating when the judges are from countries other than china? unless the whole world is against the US...?

    but no, i don't think they're cheating.

china won the tiebreaker based on the new scoring system and the number of mistakes

  27. Nothings wrong it's just the judging. They probably are wining because mostly all the judges are chinese

  28. not only gymnastics, but also boxing...  :(

  29. I see what your point is. You definitely want the US to earn every single gold medal. You wouldn't ask this question if the 2008 Olympics is held somewhere else. Discrimination plays.

  30. Twilight Fanatics, if you direct your questions to the Chinese cheating on the underage thing in Gymnastics then I agree with you. But the age 16 rule wasn't always there before and few of the old great American Gymnists were like 14 when they won gold.

But I strongly disagree with you on Diving. Chinese divers are just purely better than the rest of the world even American divers admit themselves. They were interviewed by NBC and they said there is no chance they can beat the Chinese unless they make huge mistakes, which they did not through out the tournament. Also if you watched the diving competition and think U.S divers are better then u know nothing of the sport of Diving, stop spreading the hate on a public place like this.

If according to you the reason China being good at diving and gymnastics is because they cheat, then same thing can be said about track and field for the U.S with a long list of dopers and druggies like Marion Jones, yet nobody talks bad about America just because they are good at track and field. You don't have to be that jealous to the point to open a questions like this here.

  31. I REALLY don't mean this to sound offensive/racist...but......

I think the Chinese gvt (as well as some other nations) have developed a performance enhancing drug that cannot be detected.....

and I'm also a sore loser...only coz I thought the Aussies would be better......they usually are?!?!
