  1. Turf smurf. Let's see the UK top the medal list next Olympics.

  2. Yes,its psychological.

Being held in their own /native Country.

  3. It certainly helps.  It is called "Home Court Advantages".

  4. it would give them an advantage yes, but its not like thats the only thing thats getting them the medals. They've obviously trained well for these olympics, and all that preparation is paying off. The world is changing, USA wont always been #1 in the olympics.., well China is on top right now, but things could turn around after the athletic events are over.

  5. I don't think so Australia did well but not that well and I love the poms but I don't think they will do it in 2012

  6. Yes and the fact is, China have been putting massive effort into their Olympic training programs for at least the last 20 years.  Now they have become a world force.

  7. Why is everyone surprised? Have you even watched the Athens Olympics? Or at that China seems nonexistent to you.

I think you are wrong about the severity of the pollution because since the men and women cyclists have NO PROBLEM with the air as reported by the Associated Press...and why would you even say anything like that? If cyclists from Beijing say there's no problem...I don't think you have the right to say your false statement.

  8. The air is horrible, even as a Chinese i have to say the atmosphere is hard to sit through let alone perform through.

Perhaps, PERHAPS, it is giving them a slight advantage, as they are use to their terrain, as the other countries are not.

  9. China has won golds in the last few Olympics as well. It's only natural that they would win a few more in their home turf.

  10. YES it's cos of it's turf I guess.

It's easy for viewers to judge in terms of speed - swimming, running, games... but for certain sports, I feel a lil' unfair because sometimes it seems like others did better than China's, but still China won the Gold / got the highest scores!

  11. Yes.  The host country gets to put an unlimited number of athletes through in every event.  Every other country has to do qualifications.  This is makes it a little unbalanced, but its just a perk of home court advantage.
