Do you think Christians should do jury duty?

Some of us feel we do not have the right to judge because we all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Some of us look at ourselves and see us in others.

  1. I am a christian.I would love to do jury duty.I believe that when someone did wrong, they should be punished for it.Kids are disciplined/punished when they did something wrong so how much more for a person who comitted a terrible crime.

  2. The Bible also says, judge righteous judgement. John 7:24.

  3. You would be serving in Caesar's court. You are not judging the sinfulness of the person.  On the cross, Jesus did not tell the thief that the civil authorities had no right to try him.

  4. It's also justice, by punishing others for their sin.

  5. There's a difference between god's laws and man's laws

  6. Some Christians would say that you're being a bit presumptuous to think that your verdict would decide whether the party you're judging would go to h**l because of your verdict.

Sounds a little vain, to me.  The person either did it or not.  God will judge when it's God's time to judge, in the mean time, jury duty is every American's civil responsibility.  It's part of the price of the freedoms that Americans enjoy, and should be taken seriously, not as the inconvenience that most people view it as.

I would also say to some people to stop using their vanity and religion as a crutch to avoid this responsibility.

Viewed in that light, it hardly seems Christian, does it?

  7. why should you be treated special?  The Christians I know judge people all the time.

  8. OH we all judge. I don't care what God or toilet you worship!!!!

    Christians are the worse! Hypocrites.....

  9. If more Christians felt like you do the world would be a better place. Most that I know LOVE to judge others; in the courtroom and outside it.

I am tempted to believe that you would be a good juror simply because of your ability to not see things and other people as all good and all bad. If you can weigh facts , think critically, and NOT rush to judgement, then you will be the perfect juror.  Please do concider serving. Someone who doesn't have your ethics may take your place.

  10. If you want the right to vote, then you have the right to deliver a fair trial to your peers.

  11. Judging criminal behavior is not the same as judging sin. So if you just want out of jury, give your excuse a try. Or do not register to vote and you will not be called.

  12. the rest of us have to do it, you aint special.

  13. I think they should if they are so inclined.
