  1. no this is america, freedom of speech and freedom to get fat or whatever!

  2. Moronic idea. Hope you get to argue the "no" side. Reduced competition raises prices so the few companies allowed to run one are actually making more money from it. Are you going to prevent someone from opening a fast food place as big as a WalMart - if not they'll still probably end up serving the same number of total meals and nobody will get any healthier. How do you decide who gets to run one and who doesn't? Auction or lottery for licenses? If so, how do you know the few fast food places you allow won't be the ones with the most unhealthful food, making things worse? Maybe you make everyone submit their menu to some bureaucrat who decides who has the healthiest menus and you favor them. Is their menu frozen and unchangeable at that point, or do they just switch to a less healthy, higher profit menu once you've allowed them to get up and running?

This is just more "nanny state" idiocy.

  3. No way, if they do that, what are they going to restrict next?

  4. customers will regulate the number of outlets by supply and demand, surely!

  5. Yes I do.  I feel that if you offer a better quality food at an affordable price, this is what people will choose.  You cannot keep up with the price of the fast food restaurants for a quick meal though.  I believe that instead of regulating what the restaurant serves or at the very least regulating their labeling of food, regulate the saturation of restaurants in any given area.  This is very do-able, but it puts no money into the town coffers.  If a person sees a majority of fast food restaurants, of course their thoughts are that these are the "norm" and must be OK to eat at often.  Unfortunately people on the whole are very stubborn and refuse to give in to the knowledge that fast food eaten often is bad for you.  Lastly... one word...  MODERATION.  Anything in moderation is OK.  It's the opposite that's what is dangerous.  I hope any of my opinion is helpful.

  6. No, I do not.  My City Council tried that and what we saw was than a lot of residents were leaving the area to dine elsewhere.   We don't even have a Starbuck's yet.

  7. No, individuals should limit themselves to how often they eat at fast food places.

Restricting the number of fast food places is just another example of people not exercising self-responsibility and waiting for the government to fix things for them.
