Do you think DJ's are arrogant and cocky?

Yes, we are.  You don't belong in the business and won't be very successful if you're not.

Why would you listen to someone who wasn't?

sometimes....that or they are trying to act funny and show off to their parents on the radio......I heard a radio DJ say my mom rocks (which may be true but still) on the radio!!!- strange

There are some but not all.  To be a DJ, one must have the passion to be one and being arrogant and cocky is not a plus.

Yes, and overly loud and obnoxious.     Probably became radio DJs because as they say, they must have had a face for radio.

yes... and i  would rather listen to someone that just played the music and shut the h**l up!....I don't want to hear them flap about stupid c**p!

Some of them go for that 'sound' as a career move - except it does not work because at some stage their reputation comes back to bite them on the bum and they are restricted with the formats of stations that will have them.  Also, an 'older' announcer been arrogant and cocky often just sounds like a cranky sad old man or woman.  Some people have made a career out of it e.g Howard Stern - most of them do it in the belief they will get his bucks.  They won't at some stage in the cycle of public tasts the arroagant and cocky will go out of style and then they are stuck because they do not have any other skill set to offer employers and will not be able to tone down for the less aggressive stations.

Some of them do not have the education or background to know any better

Some of them are just to stupid to know any better.

Radio annoucing was, not that long ago, a performance art.  However, nowadays employing whoever where ever dramatically lessened the cost - little Billy Bunter will work on-air anywhere just to get the gig - cheap for the station.

Whats funny about djs is that they think that they are something special and really most of them are just losers who make like 12 dollars an hour and still live at home with there mommies.

Well I'm sure some can be but then again, we wouldn't notice it if they weren't doing they're job...would you rather listen to a loud and obnoxious and most of the time funny dj or a monotonous and boring one?

I can direct you to some stations with those kind if that's what ur more into ;)
