DRM will continue to evolve.  I'm just hoping if we have to deal with DRM material, that the DRM doesn't put a burden on people legally purchasing the media (apps, videos, music).  As much as people want it to go away, the group is small compared to the masses of people that are consumers to the content.  Content providers will continue to look for ways to make money (which is what a business is supposed to do).  Now one interesting approach that I've seen is the suggestion of a "fee" for accessing content.  I can't recall the article or I'd link it but essentially someone was proposing that ISPs add a fee to their service.  The funds from those fees would be a pool of money that would support content providers.  Now the main problem is who determines how much money each content provider should get from that pool (i.e. would the Batman Dark Knight movie get the same money that a Jigli like movie makes).

    I do agree with you on DRM being beaten, and at a fraction of the cost of DRM development.  The HD DVD and BluRay schemes have both been exploited so even hardware based schemes will fail.  All the DRM does at this point is move the cost of protecting the content to the legal consumers.
