  1. No idea what incident you mean - explain ?

  2. That's the kind of behaviour I'd expect from Cardiff blokes!

  3. well he didn't turn on them with tanks or execute them for having a different opinion than him like the Chinese government likes to do, so it's a fuse over nothing.

  4. He's the guy who doused some official with his water bottle after she asked him to step toward the podium to get his medal.  I thought he handled it poorly, this was a language barrier problem.  Instead of telling her to wait, he just said "shut up please".  When she asked again, he doused her.

He's given us brits a bad image that's for sure.  No way are we that rude, at least not to someone's face like that =]

  5. i hadn't heard about this, what happened?

  6. I think reactions are OTT - a thug he ain't. FFS, it's not as if he punched her bloody lights out, is it? And she shouldn't have been manhandling him anyway.

  7. The link you provided says this:

Shortly after the race, Davies doused a belligerent Chinese official trying to push him towards the medal ceremony.

The Welshman was speaking to the press following his impressive performance at the Shunyi Rowing Park as officials hassled and harassed the 23-year-old, trying to steer him towards the medal ceremony.

Davies, however, took offence to the man-handling he was receiving and initially turned to one overly aggressive official and said: “Will you shut up please!”

The officials failed to heed Davies’ request and, after more constant harassment, he threw the contents of his water bottle at the female official before calling an end to his time with the media.

    - End of story -

Now it seems that the British media has a different take on things, making the Chinese officials out to be the rude ones. Frankly I would like to side with those that were actually present when it happened. Those that know more than the rest of us, who were watching from half a world away. Truth be told, I'd like to think that the officials could have been a little more patient or the press could have waited to conduct their interview after the medal ceremony.

  8. perhaps the best way to look at this incident is IMAGINE in 2012 London olympics a chinese olympics sportsman chucked water over a british female official because she was trying to drag him away while he was giving an interview. the next day newspapers headline would be "uncivilised chinaman threw water......to our british female official."
