He had 3 touchdowns the other night, do you think he'll produce like this on a regular basis?

  1. Not a chance.

  2. i think after that game Eli will look for him more often when he has trouble and Domenic will develop into a great wide receiver and lead the team in Yards after catch because have you seen his kickoff returns?! This guy will definitely have a good season as a wide reciever and it would be a smart move to keep him as a kick returner.

  3. well mabey but he looked good i kinda wanna see him do that but mabey not alll the time ya know?

  4. Last night was the first time Hixon play with the 1st team offense as a WR.  Most analysts saw him making the team even before this, because of his history on special teams last year.

Coughlin mentioned afterward that it was "kind of a bizarre game".  I agree.  I don't think you'll see this sort of thing happen often and Hixon was definitely blessed.

Eli was forced to go to Moss and Hixon, since the real 1st team WRs are out with injuries.  Obviously if Eli had more weapons on the field last night, Hixon wouldn't have had the opportunities he did for 2 of those TDs.

So, will he make the team because of his past history at ST and his "coming out party" as WR last night?  Sure he  will.

Will he make 3 TDs in one quarter of play on a regular basis during the season?  First, you'd have to re-create the injury situation so he's on the field and not sitting on the bench down at 4-6th WRs.  Then you'd have to play a D that looked as bad as the Browns last night.

More importantly, is he a "reliable weapon" for Eli?  Eli has high praise for Hixon's reliability.  He's running good routes and really practiced for a week on how to land with both feet inside the line.  Those sort of things are really important to Eli and it's Eli who decides who to toss to.

So, Hixon looks like a winner overall.  Can't wait to see him play in some clutch situations during the season.  Being reliable in a situation like that (tie or losing by 3+ in end of 4th Q) is worth 4 TDs in a game that we would have won anyway, for instance.

Watch the "injured" WRs Plex, Amani, Smith, and Manningham "suddenly" feel a lot better and ready to play on Saturday.  Hixon was outstanding enough to get even the most secure of them a little worried.
