do you think George bush should make a new country wide law that requires people to replace all indecent lights (except ones on dimmers) with compact florescent lights? doing this would DROP the price of gas BIG TIME if EVERYONE because the local demand on power plants would drop country wide if they put CFL's in there houses! OH i just thought of something! it's possible to know ANYONE through 6 people! if some one has a friend that has a friend that knows a friend that knows a friend that knows George bush why not forward my idea to him! And if he would like to contact me about this idea he could send a message to vengaboysfan43@gmail.com to contact me. also to let you know you cant send any attachments to this address!

  1. A great idea and to encourage people to switch to them they should also get the manufactures to issue money off coupons to make them a little cheaper to buy. That's want they did here in Ontario Canada. Sorry but since I am Canadian I don't know anybody that is close to George W. Bush. Good luck though.

Ontario turns out the lights on inefficient bulbs. Wednesday, April 18, 2007

Ontario will ban the sale of inefficient incandescent light bulbs by 2012, a move that follows in the footsteps of Australia, the province said Wednesday.

The government estimates that replacing the 87 million incandescent bulbs in use across Ontario with more efficient bulbs would save six million megawatt hours every year — enough to power 600,000 homes.

Changing to more efficient bulbs is also the equivalent — in terms of greenhouse-gas emissions — of taking 250,000 cars off the road, said Ontario Environment Minister Laurel Broten, who announced the move along with Energy Minister Dwight Duncan on Wednesday morning.

"It's lights out for old, inefficient bulbs in Ontario," Duncan said in a statement.

The provincial government is developing new performance standards for lamps and drafting regulations for the sale of bulbs it considers inefficient, the ministers said.

The ban, part of a wider energy conservation program, would allow for exceptions, such as the use of incandescent bulbs in fields like medicine.

Also, if manufacturers develop energy-efficient incandescent bulbs, those would be allowed.

More efficient lighting would include compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), which use about 75 per cent less electricity than older incandescent bulbs.

Many jurisdictions around the world have recently moved toward banning standard incandescent bulb, which lose most of their energy as heat.

Australia blazed the way, announcing in February that it was going to prohibit the use of incandescent bulbs by 2010 in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

It is estimated Australia's ban will result in a 800,000-tonne reduction in emissions within five years.

Ontario is not the first Canadian jurisdiction to announce plans to ban incandescent bulbs. Nunavut aims to take that honour by prohibiting the sale and purchase of incandescent bulbs over the next three years, if legislation is passed in May.

Meanwhile, Nova Scotia's government warned in February that it plans to ban the bulbs within four to five years.

  2. why.  I heat my home with incandescent bulbs.  If I replace with CFL's, I'll have torn on my heater more often.  All that lost energy goes into heating my home, so its not lost.

So should we ask Obama to make us all buy Hybrids, get or cats spade, stop and put into place a 1 child law?

    Freedom is nice.

Beside you question is moot.  In the US, the President cannot pass laws, only congress and the people can.  You can sing at the top of your lungs to the White house, won't help.  See also, HS Civics class, have you passed it yet?

  3. First... you should realize that George Bush can NOT initiate any legislation.. you may want to review civics...

second cfl's are wonderfull clear bright <well almost) and they have that nice pleasant mercury in them... is your city ready for thousands of lightbulbs each with a drop of mercury in them?? in case you dont' realize it mercury is a contact poison.. that much of it in the landfill/dump may well be a toxic hazard!

perhaps we need a better solution before we move millions of houses with dozens of light bulbs each onto these bad boys.. what do you think?

  4. Heheh, "indecent" lights?    What would those be, the traditional red lights that certain women put in their windows to attract customers?

Surely you mean "incandescent", and yes, if everybody switched to incandescent lights and inflated their tires, the result would be a nearly instantaneous reduction in oil, natural gas and coal demand, and for sure the speculators would pay attention to that.

  5. don't know how you could have missed the news that bush already signed this into law earlier this year.

incandescent bulbs will be illegal in the U.S. after 2014.

so 3 years from now you will have to buy cfl bulbs for $3 to $5 each whether you want to or not, instead of normal bulbs at 4 for $1.25 or 4 for .89 cents on sale.

  6. George Bush would never pass a law that would conserve energy. His only purpose in life is to keep us dependant on oil so he and his friends can make money.
