Do you think Hollywood stars should be pumping global warming .....?

They live in a alternate reality. John Travolta was recently going on about global warming yet he parks two jet aircraft in his front yard. does anybody need their own private 707? let alone two jets. what is his carbon footprint and why is he telling me I need to drive a prius and live in a teepee. I for one will no longer patronize this hippocrite and any others who do the same. Then only hollywood star I can think if who walks the walk is Ed Beggly Jr. I disagree with him but he has the conviction of his beliefs unlike "I got two private jets" Travolta.

  1. I think Hollywood celbrities should be forbiden from talking about anything they know nothing about, which pretty much says their mouths should be glued closed when they are not working.

  2. I think everybody should be concerned about global warming, no matter what their job is.  However, once celebrity who is truly eco-friendly (in what she says and does) is Daryl Hannah, who played California Mountain Snake in Kill Bill.  She rocks.

  3. Don't worry, very soon the issues of global worming will be out of our hands, e.g., the unwashed masses.

It is just a special time in the beginning where it matters what you and I think about something. Denial is lots of fun but reality has a way of asserting itself.

  4. Hollywood has the right to their opinion, hypocritical or not (actually it's quite funny to laugh at these guys).  What annoys me to no end is the voice that the media gives these people (oft without any scientific or technical education) about topics beyond their grasp.  I can think of few other "leaders in field" that are given such deference.

As you say, I can respect Begley - who really is walking the walk (I think DiCaprio is in the same boat, opting for a Prius over a lush Bentley), but 99% of these alarmists want *US* to do something so *THEY* can retain their opulent lifestyle.  Purchasing Carbon credits is the biggest farce and self-aggrandizing effort of these la-la-landers; that they're able to do it with a straight face is a testament to their acting abilities!

Perhaps I could establish a greenhouse gas credit company.  I'd establish an exchange rate of CO2 for methane.... kill some more cows (eat some more steaks) and claim to have rid some methane polluting cows from the planet, thereby saving a wealth of polluting gasses!  If I can establish that exchange rate at say.... the cost of Kobe beef, I'll be sitting fat & happy.... and celebrated by the Hollywood elite for doing my part!

Of course I prefer rational thought.... something that Hollywood never seems to be bothered with.

  5. It does make him a hypocrite. But in a celebrity obsessed world, a hypocrite celebrity shouting about the environment will do more for the cause than an eh .......non hypocrite actor who keeps his opinions to himself.

A scarily large number of people would listen to John over Al Gore.

I think when it comes to the environment, we are fighting a losing battle and every little helps. Regardless of who's giving it.

  6. That is not the question. CO2 has an atom of carbon and 2 atoms of oxygen . So if we have burned all that fuel why hasn't the oxygen level decreased.
