ok, i'm 18, and my 25 (8 mo. prego) and 16 yo step sis's and i are babysitting our younger sibs while my parents are at some kind of all day conference. it has been raining all day. and the kids (ages 2-13) are getting cranky and restless, fighting, etc. it's not thundering or lightning, so if we let them (the 6-13 yo, we'll keep the 2 and 3 yo inside) go outside and play in the mud/rain. do u think our parents would mind?

  1. Yea, just keep the kids warm. Go burn off some of their extra energy!

  2. i think it would be ok. i miss going out and playing in the rain when i was a kid. if its not thundering and lightening then there shouldn't be a problem. like one of the other post say try and snap a few shots to make a collage. some times i wish we had just rain here...but its always thundering and lightening here.

just try and do up the laundry before your parents get home. they would probably appreciate it.

  3. Depends on your parents and if you all clean them up before your parents get home.   If it's a cold, heavy rain, I'd say no.  If it's a warmer, lighter, summer type rain then I'd say go for it.

  4. Get wet and squishy. It will burn off some of the stress and cabin fever. Warm bath and showers afterwards if they get really muddy. Clean up all the mess too b4 mom and dad get home.

  5. let the kids play, kids r supposed to have fun and not worry about getting wet and dirty.. i let my 2 and 4 year old play in the rain all the time as long as there is no lightning.  i even go play with them at times.  i think it helps teach them to appreciate what they have. kids are soo up tite by the age of 2 now they dont want to play in the dirt or get their hair wet because they will look messy, that is crazy that a child is already insecure,  i think its ridiculous.  all they want to do is go inside and play with video games and stuf.

  6. Go ahead, just remember to clean up afterwards, that wouldn't be fair.  I used to play in the rain when I was younger.  Unfortunately I live in FL now and we never have regular rain, only thunderstorms, so those days are gone.  Let the kids have fun.  You are smart to keep the little ones indoors.

  7. I let my kids...we went to my BFF's BBQ and it was hot and rainy outside and we let them play in the rain! They had so much fun! They are 4yr and 2yrs old!

  8. What's wrong with that?  They're not going to melt.  Kids love the wet and the mud.

  9. Sounds like your parents are quite reasonable & have a good sense of priorities, Go for it! make sure you have a way to hose them off b4 they come inside & dry clean clothes when they are done. If you can manage to do the dirty laundry when they are done thats a plus. But whatever you do try to take some pictures to boot, it will frame the day in a competely different perspective for your parents. Have a blast!

  10. All of you, get on out there and jump in some puddles!!! Your parents sound a but like me-my kids have strict bedtimes and wouldnt dare swear in front of me (or at all for that matter) but I have picked them up and sat them in puddles before now!!! It's all a bit of harmless fun, just make sure you all get into clean dry clothes when you get in and stick the wet stuff in to wash. Enjoy!

  11. Let them have fun!  They are kids and every kid needs to play in the rain/mud.  Unless it is 30 degree's out I think it's fine.  The kids are under "your" supervision right now so "you" make the decisions.  Keep the younger ones inside but other than that your doing a great job.
