Do you think I could be good at shot put/ Or don't bother?

I am going to be in tenth grade this year, I am 5 ft 7 in 218lbs and I can squat 260 Dead lift 300 and leg press 500 but i can only bench 120 My first ever throw I threw 36 ft with 12lb Do you think if i train i could get up there?

  1. I think so.  Once you learn the technique and keep working out you could get there no problem.  36 ft isnt bad at all for a first throw.


  2. Just keep practicing in the weight room and make a goal for yourself example- Today i am gonna bench press 120 but see if i can get to 130. Then once you reach your goal learn the technique and practice as much as you can without pushing yourself to hard egt your friends to help you out. And anyways you would still make the team.

  3. Okay a lot of girls from my school have thrown 38-40 feet and I've thrown shot put a couple of times although my real event is discus. I do a lot of track and field events so i know it isn't all about how strong you are, I don't have big arm muscles, it's all about the technique and speed. I can throw about 120 so far in discus and I know it isn't my arm strength. You need to speed drills and work on technique to better your throw, even though the strength will help somewhat. You have a chance at getting it pretty far.
