I would love to try diving, do you think I could do it? I'm a gymnast so I have really good air sense and i'm not afraid of heights or the water. Is it better to be shorter or taller? What kind of build would be best? And lastly, how long would it take to get really good like maybe make it to London in 2012?

  2. I'm sure you could join a diving team.  Your gymnastic background will help, but you'll have to get over the idea of "landing" on your head!  If you noticed the divers at the Olympics, you saw that they have different builds.  From watching many years of high school, club and college diving, however, the taller, thinner divers generally seem to be more flexible and have the nicest lines.  If you've been doing gymnastics, however, being flexible and graceful probably won't be a problem for you.

Getting to the Olympics is extremely difficult.  The competition is very tough and, out of the thousands of divers in the country, only a very few qualify.  But it's good to "dream big"!

Check out USADiving.org for lots of info on diving and a link to diving clubs around the country, where you can train year round.

    Good luck!!
