I just got back from my eye doctor today and he said that I have a HIGH risk of getting glaucoma in the future but I'm only 13!!!!! Should I be worried about this and is there any way I can prevent this from happening. And he also said that my vision has gotten worse since last check up. He also noted that my left eye is slightly worse than my right?!?

  1. Glaucoma takes years to develop, and is fairly easily treated if it is caught early.  Your eyes getting worse since your last checkup is normal.  Your eyes will change the most during your teen years, so getting an annual checkup is very important.  Since you have a high risk of glaucoma, educate yourself on the signs, symptoms and what you can do to either avoid or minimize the disease.  It's better to know it's possible and be prepared than to have it hit when it's too late to fix.
