Do you think I have any kind of Cancer?

I've been nervous lately, I'm not sure if I have some kind of cancer or not, I'm only 16 and my parents keep saying it's nothing.

Ok so these past few weeks I've been getting chest pains and other things, I thought it was a heart attack or something similiar, I went to the doctors and it turned out to be just Acid problems, I had 3 blood tests, checking on the pains in my arms and chest, and everything else, it came back everything normal, but I'm still worried that something else could be Cancer, because I've read Cancer doesn't show up in Blood Tests, and I've been wondering if I did have cancer could I feel something? Or is it a silent killer?

Anyway this past week I've been going to the doctors, and seeing the same one everyday, he says it's just stress and anxiety making me feel down, I've been taking up Gym Classes to help get rid of stress, and it helps, but I still think something bad is going to happen.

Today I went to the doctors to get 2 blood tests, one on Thyroids and the other on Diabetes, the reason is because I've been feeling very tired lately, and I also read that one of the symptoms of Acute myeloid leukaemia Cancer, is tiredness, that's one of the reasons that's got me so worked up over it, and also 2 days ago, I had like a lump feeling in my throat, not and actual lump, it just felt like it, and I read that some other form of cancer can be caused by having that feeling, It has been fine the past 2 days though, I just want this stress and worry to stop, it's ruining me.

Could any of this be Cancer? or is this just caused because of Anxiety and Stress?

  1. First of all - I do think you are a Hypochontriac - that means you think you have everything under the sun in terms of illness.  I am somewhat the same way.....but I get better as I get older.....

Each time you see the doctor, do you tell him/her about your fear or do you just perpetuate this fear by not telling the doctor???  That's not wise and just causes stress on you and your family.....

  2. Good for you for persisting to find what's the root cause of the problem.

Sometimes it is low thyroid, or a virus that gets stuck in system.  One EASY way to get rid of this is to take a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water first thing in the morning.  This will help rid virus as the bugs don't live in alkaline.  It may help with acid reflux.  Don't take meds like antacids since they reduce your acid that you need to digest with.  You may also use slippery elm herb to help with any stomach or colon disorders.  Another way to help your body balance is go to a good acupuncturist a few times to get overall balance.  Your body may be going through hormonal changes.  Acupuncture helps your body gain energy and balance.  Try not to let the needles bother you.  Just relax and enjoy some relaxing music, etc.

God bless you.  Jesus loves you.

  3. You sound like my friend who is always worrying about what she might have.  It honestly sounds like your doctor is right, it is stress and anxiety.  I had the same chest pains and found it to be the acid reflux.

I am glad you are exercising to get rid of stress.  You should also see a counselor to help you talk about what is stressing you out and how to ease the everyday stresses of life.

I do not believe you have cancer.  If you are worrying so much, is this affecting your sleep?  That could be the reason you are so tired.  Do not read about cancer or any diseases that you could find "symptoms" of the same thing.

The lump in the throat is from stress too.   Relax and pray about your fears.  I will also pray for you.

God Bless and have faith you are going to be fine.

  4. Well, I am very glad I clicked on this question because I am a Doctor. No, Cancer can be found by Doctors by some special blood tests, x-rays, and other specific tests. Stress can be the huge problem of all your symptoms. See, stress can cause mental and phsyical problems. Anxiety and Stress can be one of the worst mental problems you can get. The Anxiety and Stress cause your body to be under so much pressure it trys to give it off which makes sores in the inside of your body. The Symptoms of a type of Cancer is way worse than what you are feeling so Cancer is NOT the problem. My advice is to excerise and get most of that stress off you and the anxiety you have too get through. The pressure in your body will loosen up and make your body stop causing sores. Good Luck.

  5. There is a blood test for cancer.  They check the "PSA" levels.  I work with cancer clients, and also with trauma clients.  I think that you fall into the latter category from what you've said.  I'd recommend a Hakomi therapist to help you.  It is body-centered psychotherapy.  The lump in your throat, fatigue, and stress may all be symptoms of the need to heal past traumas.  You might also want to see an Endocrinologist for tests.  Sometimes the Adrenal glands can emit too much or too little Cortisol resulting in similar symptoms. It's a good idea to write down all of the stresses in your life (past also), and also the internal and external resources that you have to help you with them.  Exercise is a good external resource; deep breathing (relaxes the autonomic nervous system) is a good internal one.  Most importantly, I would recommend getting a good therapist.  Massage would help too.  Again, your symptoms are not those of cancer,  they are more like a stress-induced illness such as fibromyalgia.  SAM-E might be a good daily support for your nervous system, and it's a natural, over-the-counter supplement.

  6. You need to stop reading about cancer.  Seems like you develop the symptoms you read about.  Trust your parents and your doctor.  If you had a cancerous disease, your blood tests would be abnormal.  If you can't stop obsessing over getting cancer, ask your parents to take you to a therapist.  You're young, you should be having fun in high school and participating in sports.  Besides, worrying about getting cancer, or any other disease for that matter, isn't going to prevent it.  Live a healthy lifestyle, eat right, get good grades in school and stop worrying about what you cannot control, otherwise it starts controlling you.

  7. you can  only know if you get scanned  for it, so go to the doctor

  8. ok please stop. i think you have alot of anxiety and an acid reflux problem. and cancer can show up on blood tests. and yes like the person said above you are a hypochondriac.
