Do you think I have paranoia? ?

Ever since i saw the movie Halloween in the 5th grade (I'm in tenth now) I've been terrified that someone is in my house and is gonna kill me. I'm not really afraid that a robber is gonna come in my house nor am I afraid that someone with a gun is gonna kill me. I'm afraid that a psychopath with a knife is gonna kill me. It's to the point where any sound I hear in my house gets me afraid. Do I have paranoia and should I seek help? I think this paranoia isn't from Halloween because i remember in my old house I didn't like sleeping in my room because there was a sliding glass door in there and I was afraid that someone would break in from there. I have no father he lives in Ireland. Could this be why I'm like this?

  1. when i was really littel (like 10 yrs old) i saw the movie messangers and independance day and jeepers creepers and like 2 salt movies and i was totally freakked out, i didnt sleep for weeks. and was terified for years. my soultion was to finally start going to bed really early im talking like 7 or 8 because then no one would come in at that time, plus i would lock all my doors and windows plus stuff like lots of blankets. do whatever it takes to feel surcure. u r not paroined just a little freaked out. just try to relax wach a little kid fairtale that helps to if u wach it right before bed.

    Lol  I watched Halloween when i was 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 now im 15 every year never had 1 nightmare.

    But You should Seek Help. There's nothing wrong with that get a psychologist.

    Yes you are paranoid about that.

  3. um. well that's a pretty series problem if it has been 5 years and you can barely sleep at night, i would go see a doctor or if you don't wanna do that sleep in the same room as your mom or brother or sister becasue you'll feel more secure and you'll build up more courage to sleep on your own without being frightened.i hope you get over your problem  :)

  5. You do not "have" paranoia, you CHOOSE paranoia, or at least the fearfulness that many people think of as paranoia.

    Paranoia is not something you "have" or "possess" but something you choose to believe about yourself in order to get something else to happen, some result of pay-off, usually from other people.

    Dr. Alfred Adler made the distinction more than 100 years ago between "psychology of possession" and "psychology of use."

    The first says, "I have a psychological illness, it came upon me from outside and without my volition, and I have no control over it. It's like a cold I have caught..."

    The second says, "You have chosen your psychological illness in order to get something out of it from other people: pity, release from obligations, whatever. You do not HAVE it, you have CHOSEN it."

    You ask, "Could this be why I'm like this?" My answer is "No." "Why" you are like something is a choice you have made. Now you must decide whether you want to continue to choose what you have chosen, or let it go and be stronger and more courageous in your daily living.

    I think it would be OK for you to talk with a professional (cognitive or Adlerian therapist) about this, but I would NOT (if I were you) march right in with your own self-diagnosis, "I am paranoid" since (1) that's not a medical determination for you to make, and (2) you do not sound like you are paranoid in any clinical sense. Instead it sounds as if you easily think thoughts that lead you to be fearful. You need to learn to control those thoughts.

Sorry but i'm clueless as to why you are like this.  But i feel for you.  I couldn't babysit for a year after seeing When a stranger calls.  I would definitely seek help though.  It doesn't seem too serious but it would suck if it got worse and to the point where it impacted your daily life.  And at that point it could be uncurable.

  8. i dunno sometimes i'm the same . the other day i was scared of aliens who obviously don't even exist...............but anyway films with murderererssssssss are weird...i used to watch that type of stuff when i was younger n i saw some of it rcenetly n i was really shocked because it was really gory..i can't believe i could even watch that stuff...just watch happy stuff..i can't relax either...it tkes me ages to get sleep because i have to keep looking round just in case

  9. Yes I think that you have some kind of paranoia problem. You need to see a psychiatrist and/or therapist so they can figure out were it comes from and they can give you medication if need be. I have schizophrenia paranoia and Bi-polar and I do go to a psychiatrist and I see a therapist and I am on medication and it helps me allot
