  1. your still young, dint stress 2 bad...... rember that Elbert Einstein failed math in high school

  2. Hey!!!

I actually have been dealing with what your saying. I'm 14 and just got diagnosed with a Language receptive and Central Auditory Processing Disabilities. It pretty much means I can't understand what people say to me easily. My teachers didn't believe me when I told them because I am a all A's and one B kinda student. You have to trust that what you think is true. My advice is get a Learning Evaluation. Don't get it in the school district because you can't be positive they will tell the truth.

BTW TONS of teenagers get diagnosed with a learning disability that they've had since they were little.

Good Luck! (email me if you have any questions)

  3. Hannah I think that you should have used spell check.  And you might have a disability.  So all you could do is try, and you are going to do better.  You are not going to do any better than trying.

  4. you should go somewhere so you can get a diagnose.

  5. don't worry I'm ADHD and proud of it and some of the things like not understanding things quicker as others and getting fraustrated that could be ADHD or dislexia but go to a doctor to get tested and if you do have it then you may take a pill but your still like everyone else and it doesn't make you stupid at all because Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Aristole, and Leonardo Di Vinici were all dislexic and they weren't stupid!

  6. Hannah, I'm the exact same way, and if I didn't have spell check, my spelling would look similar to yours. Do you have trouble staying focused? I have ADHD, and that is supposedly what causes my troubles with understanding things right away. I also have a short term memory problem, and so when I first learn something, it doesn't stay long, but after MANY repetitions, it stays and I never forget it. I have dyslexia as well, and I wonder, is reading hard for you as well/ If it is, dyslexia may be something to consider. I would talk to you parents or a trusted teacher to get help. Good luck, and email me if you wan to talk to someone who knows how it feels.

  7. they need to retest you now not all learning disabilities are found when you are young. Tell your teacher you would like to be tested for all learning disabilities.

    Good luck

  8. you should go talk to your school counselor about this

  9. You might want to tell your parents to take you to a speech pathologist to get evaluated. you can find one at ASHA.ORG.

If you are hearing what they are saying but it doesn't make sense you should be evaluated by an audiologist. It might be because you have a hearing loss or a processing disorder. You can find an audiologist at asha.org also.

I am a speech and hearing major. We hear stories like this all time. Definately have your parents get you evaluated.

  10. i was dignosed at the age of 6 with my learning disibility and my best friend had trouble with words like you look like you have.

there is a place online called Chadd www.chadd.org which shows you what you can do about your disability and chadd means child AND adult with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

I was in special ed. due to my disibility since i was 6. so i know what it is like.

  11. Well for starters you are only sixteen so don't work yourself to hard 'cuz you have a really long life ahead of you. If you feel uncomfortable with the way you are doing in school your parents would be some people that you could talk to or your teacher and so on. If you don't want to ask for help in person you could write a letter and ask for it to be kept a secret. If you get help and there is a test coming up or whatever you should set a goal like have a study buddy or when the test is over chill with some friends. Don't worry.

  12. It's hard to tell just from that sample. I definitely think you have difficulties in reading and spelling but diagnosing a learning disability requires certain criteria to be met-some states still require there to be a large difference between your ability (IQ) and your performance in a given achievement area (Math, Writing, Reading, etc) so it is not clear cut.

Your parents can request from the school that you be tested to determine if you have a learning disability. They need to talk to the school counselor and ask for special education testing.  The school has to at least consider the testing-if they decide not to test you then they have to provide you with a reason for not testing.

P.S. There is not a learning disability category for spelling-some people just can't spell. Spelling does factor into the writing assessment to determine if you have a learning disability in  Written Expression; however, your sentence structure is not that bad and you follow basic grammar rules (like using end punctuation and capitalizing 1st words of a sentence).

  13. i think you do i have one its not a big deal they found mine in like 1 st grade

  14. Not all disabilities are caught when a person is younger, there are many times when people don't get diagnosed until later in life. I know quite a few people (including myself) that have still not received diagnoseis for problems they may have.

Mostly this is due to parents and doctors simply missing it, or not being qualified to diagnos it. It may not have affected you as much when you were younger so they felt it was nothing to worry about. Lot's of people also just don't have the ability to get a diagnosis for financial, cultural or personal belief issues.

I would suggest seeing a counselor or your normal doctor and requesting an evaluation. If you are really concerned tell your parents that have them set up an appointment.

  15. From your question you appear to be an intelligent articulate person. Your teacher is wrong and should know that many children with learning difficulties are still not diagnosed  in school.

My own son was diagnosed as dyslexic at 10.  When he was his teens he made friends with a boy who was 16 and lived with foster parents.  While playing a game of Cluedo with a group of children I became concerned at the level of reading and writing of this boy and suspected he might be dyslexic.

I bought this to the attention of his social worker, he was tested and it was confirmed that he was dyslexic.

Not one teacher had picked this up and he was in his last year of school.  To me it was obvious that he was a bright intelligent boy and that his reading and writing ability could not be due to him being slow or backward.

Often schools will ignore children who need special help as this requires extra work from them and funding to get the help needed for each child.  You should ask your parents to go to the school with you and insist that you are assessed, this is your right.
