Do you think being 25 years old I can become an electrician. How long does it take in the U.K?

Im at the beginning stages of a career change. I want to become a qualified electrician in the U.K. Whats the best thing to do at 25? Apprenticeships seem catered for people under 21.

  1. Most of the US presidents were 40 or older!

You are never to old to do something you want to do!

  2. You definetely not too young!  Go for it!  In the states, we have technical classes at the community college.  Perhaps there is something similar?  Best wishes to you during your career change!

  3. Please!!! I'm 38 and I'm still going to college trying to earn my degree. I'm even thinking about either going into the apprenticeship myself to become a Nuclear Control Room Operator or going back to college and earn my Master's Degree. My oldest sister is 45 and she is also in college still trying to earn her degree. So if 25 is too old than both me and my sister are both antiques that are wasting our time, money going to college.

Edit: I might feel like an antique when I get up in the mornings but hopefully I have plenty of years to go before I kick the bucket.

  4. My father became an electrician at 35 doing an apprenticeship. My fiancé became an electrician at 16 while still in high school through an apprenticeship program. You can become an apprentice at any age. Apply for those apprenticeships, they may appreciate your maturity, unless the aid states looking for under 21, which would be discrimination against age. I am sure you can get hired!

  5. You're never too old to learn something new.
