it depends on how you interpret the Koran (Islamic bible). it talks about killing the beliefs of other people, not the people themselves. the terrorists take a literal point of view of it. All religions speak in metaphors to teach lessons.

Islam literally means Peace. Absolutely. Not only Islam, all religions convey the message of peace and love. Islam spread by the power of love and peace. Alas, some extremist elements are giving it bad name by doing things (suicide bombing etc) which have no room in Islam.

There are some clergymen who have used Islam to their own advantage in many a Muslim countries by playing with the religious sentiments of people who do not know the real meanings of Islam. West separated church or religion from politics long time back, but in most of the Islamic countries mosque (clergy) and politics are intertwined.

Gee, I hate to do this, because most religion questions are opinions rather than facts, From my readings (I own a copy of the Bible, Koran, book of Mormon, Zen, and any other religions books i can get) The Koran actually has a lot of the same things as the bible does, the story of David and Goliath, talks about Jesus, and the whole nine yards. However, as you can see with Christan TV, people can take what they read, and interpret it to what THEY want it to mean. (Remember the Televangelist that said if he didn't get a million dollars, God was going to call him home).  That being said, it is what it is!
