its funny how everyone looks down upon teen pregnancy now, but not too long ago it was the norm for women to get married and have children in their early teen years. it actually still goes on in many other countries without being looked down upon. given, most of the girls who give birth early in the US are unwed mothers who have little to no help... that is something that is sad and could be looked down upon but if she is in a stable relationship and/or is married and has the love and support of family then who is anyone to judge them? young girls lack the maternal instinct but once the baby is born the ones with help always come out just fine

While it was irresponsible of her to become pregnant, she laid low and refrained from glamorizing the pregnancy.  It's the media who forced her pregnancy into the spotlight.  They should have left her alone and let her fade from the public eye.

she is with the father, they have their own home, and planning marriage (i think, he is suposed to have cheated on her though) - i think they are making the best of a situation that isnt ideal.

She is a bad example in general.  But yes, she and the media are now glamorizing teen pregnancy.  She has it easier than almost all teens do if they got pregnant.  She has her own money - enough to buy a house, baby supplies, pay for nannies so she doesn't have to take care of her own child.  It was absolutely ridiculous that she was on the cover of a magazine with her baby.

No i believe she's a good example that everyone strives to be. the reason people complain about kids having babies is that they don't have resources to help them. they're not married (she is current engaged wished she did earlier) Jamie lynn on the otherhand has the resources to take care of a child. she's not a poor teenager. she has family support.

of course.  Many many girls look up to her, those girls being on average from 7-13.  Instead of having a hero who's known for her honesty, intergrity, and courage, these little girls look up to someone who's known for her indiscretions.

I wish people would stop getting their examples from celebrities. It's just dumb. People are not freakin perfect-celebs included. Everyone just gives them all cheap shots because it's easy. God creates lives for a reason. You don't know if she was using protection and it was an accident. Sometimes things just happen and we have to deal with it. We should focus on the people around us and try to live the best way we can. Don't use other people as an example of how to live and everyone needs to teach their children that. Mistakes happen-if she was your daughter, what would you say? I doubt you would be hating on her or allowing others to do it either. Just think about it.

Well, considering that ALL teen pregnancy is bad, unless the teen in question is married...this question is a moot point.

If what you mean is "Do you think Jamie Lynn Spear's pregnancy gives an unrealistic portrayal of teen pregnancy?" then the answer is absolutely "yes."  Most teens don't have the millions of dollars Jamie Lynn has, and most teen parents don't ever get out of poverty.

people think that just because she is an actress, she is supposed to hold up to higher standards than everyone else. she is human, just like the rest of us. we all make mistakes, but at least she is trying to do the right thing and raise her child. i got pregnant at 16, and went to private school. although the faculty did not like it, many of my fellow classmates told me that they were very proud of the fact that i kept my baby and was going to raise him. how about we stop being so concerned with the media and start worrying more about our own lives people!

She is not the first or the last teenage girl to get pregnant..Give her a break so she got pregnant..I wouldnt want my little girl looking up to her..But its not her fault that young girls are getting knocked up...bad choices and/or bad parenting. Ugh, I don't get why people just won't leave her alone! She's not a BAD person! She's just getting the experience at a young age. I know for a fact that she's not bad! No, because she has the resources, support, and most importantly, the money to take care of a child. Of course, it is not good that she became pregnant as a teen, but she will never struggle. Her income from that tv show is probably enough to put that kid through private schools and college and to pay rent for the rest of her life. But girls looking up to her shouldn't think that they can do it because she can. She can do it because she has millions of dollars!! Regular teens have no money, no jobs, and little opportunity. Looking at her as a "I can do it too" idol is stupidity at its finest. Hopefully her pregnancy can teach kids that you need to be in her position of money and fame in order to do how she does with her child.

Why would she be a bad example for teens. It is not her responsibility to teach you teens right from wrong it is the parents. Teens have been having babies before she was pregnant and on the disney show. It is her fault? NO! She had s*x and got pregnant and now she has to take care of her child. I don't understand why we hold these "celebrities" to such a high standard like they are the authority over our children. Raise you kids yourself and you be the best example for your children.
