  1. I disagree with that statement. Queen Elizabeth II has dedicated 56 years of Her Majesty's life to serve and carry out thousands of official duties. Her Majesty is well over the typical retirement age yet Her Majesty works hard and continues to carry out hundreds of engagements annually. Her Majesty represents Britain extremely well and has certainly done an excellent job in providing stability and continuity in times of change.

Moreover, Her Majesty maintains strong relationships with countries worldwide and has shown love and dedication to the British people. Members of the Royal Family such as HRH Prince Harry has proven to be a brave 'war-hero' when he travelled to Afghanistan with the rest of the army to fight the Taliban. The third-in-line to the throne of England and the Commonwealth realms was putting his life at risk out of his own will. HRH Prince William, has done another excellent job in the army and had also briefly travelled to Afghanistan and he is second-in-line to the throne. Princess Diana was a great woman too, during her short life, she walked across a field of landmines, went around the world to help the less fortunate and many more. Although she was the wife of the heir to the throne and was immensely wealthy, she did not just donate a portion of her wealth, she went there and did the work!

Many of them are great people and are certainly not 'just like council tenants that don't work by living off taxpayers money'. Jeremy Kyle is being mean by saying that and it shows lack of thought and 'appreciativeness'.

  2. Yes I do Chop,

Jermy Vile is a smug tw@t but he talks total sense in this instance..

We are screwed from all angles, we pay for Wills and Ginge to go and see their birds in a helicopter,  we pay for Big Red and the Ugly Bugs to have new frocks...  and we pay for all their sight seeing and security ..  proper spongers aren`t they ?.. they just don`t  have to queue up on a Monday Morning at the Post Office for their humungous hand-out ...!!

  3. I don't always agree with him but in this instance he is right.

He got a huge cheer when he said it.

  4. While I have no love for the Royal Family, I hate Jermey Kyle.

The majority of the people on his show are leeches on UK taxpayers!

  5. They cost the UK tax payers a lot of money just to be an English tradition. We have a lot of these people in the US also. Their called politicians.

  6. I don't like jeremy kyle he's a smarmy git! but I totally agree with him on this

  7. It's one of the few things that I actually agree with him on

  8. Evidence is evidence - yes Mr Kyle has every right to talk the truth...

  9. It's a fairly simple question to answer... how much do they cost (you would also have to add in the cost of an alternative head of state and the process through which they are elected) and how much do we make out of them... on balance I think the answer is clear - they more than pay for themselves. This may have been different in the past, but then it was a different world at that time, so difficult to tell.

The civil list is actually quite a small sum (around £10-15m?) - do we recoup more than that through having them - I should say so. The civil list is meant to pay for the Queen's Household and to be fair if she were replaced by a "President" figure then this amount wouldn't simply be wiped out... it would be replaced by other costs, possibly more, possibly less... who knows... how much does the US President cost? French President?

And even if they didnt recoup the money spent I don't think, personally, the amount it costs warrants a great deal of examination... not in comparison, say, to the amount of money lost through fraud, actual mis-spenditure etc. Strictly small potatoes.

As eluded to here by some others... ask any other nation if they would like a head of state like the Queen and many will. There are dozens of "Kings and Queens" around the world... who do you think of when someone mentions "the Queen".

  10. Jeremy Kyle has the cheek to call someone else a leech, he too, is making money out of other peoples misery, he should have a good look in the mirror, although with that face it would crack anyway.

  11. he is right.mary.c.

  12. He said that? Fair play to him, but I don't think he's going to have his job for long. I'm surprised he hasn't already been carted off to the Tower.

  13. thats probably the only thing he got right!!

  14. Yes, apart from the Queen the rest of them are brain dead and just plain greedy and useless.

  15. How much does the Royal Family cost per person

  16. yes

  17. Obviously the stupidity of some of the people he gets on his "show" must be rubbing off.  I bet he votes Labour.

  18. stand outside buckingham palace at the weekend see how many foreign tourists are around all of them spending money in london.  The money made from tourism alone is more than enough to pay for the royal family.  How much more will be raised when wills and harry get hitched.  That is good enough to keep the royals.

  19. did you say Jeremy Kyle, i love the man god bless him i bet he votes BNP, love him to bits?

  20. The UK citizens at least make a small fortune in tourism courtesy of the blue blood leeches.

Pity us in other areas of the Commonwealth.  Every time one of them suggests sneezing on our home soil, millions upon millions is spent to protect them.

We don't get the tourism pay off.

I can't abide the whole class structure and the privelidges people get as a birthright.  Can't wait for the day Australia becomes a republic.

  21. I think Jeremy Kyle is a leech

  22. lol he said that serious? hes a one to talk he speaks out like hes perfect and holds no flaws in his life hes a hypocrite dont like him

  23. Definately not. Who does he think he is!

  24. Jeremy Kyle is a reptile who would say just about anything to get viewers. Car crash TV of the worst kind.

  25. absolutly! U hear about families of 8 on benefits with a 5 bed detached house in the papers...we constantly forget about the royals...they are the largest 'council' family going

  26. Yeah i totally agree with him and people shouldn't run down his show either,he's good.At the end of the day if there weren't so many lying, cheating, boozing scumbags etc in the U.K then he wouldn't have a show would he?

  27. THE MAN TALKS UTTER SH8IT BUT HE IS RIGHT ......

  28. Pathetic jealousy is the usual reason for people to agree with or make crass comments like this.

Vine works for the BBC - how much does that cost everyone each year? Feel you're getting good value? I don't...

The Royal Family costs us less than the DVLA to run.  There are good arguments that they pay for themselves, which if you look at the accounts of the Duchy of Lancaster (the revenue from which the Queen gives back to the State in return for the civil list), they pay us. How much does the US Presidency cost? A h**l of a lot more...

The Queen has given a lifetime of service to the UK - she's in her 80's.  How many people can claim to have the devotion to duty that she does? Very few.  Politicians come and go, but the Monarch glues the whole thing together.  Even Tony Blair would agree with that. I agree that some of the Royal Family aren't exactly blessed in the brains department, but thankfully they are kept on the fringes.

I for one am glad that there is someone in public life who is above politics and the moron politicians that we elect.  I just think its a shame that people can't see the benefits and have to resort to petty envy because they'd like to live in a palace, but don't.
