Do you think John Mayer's recent rant to the press about his break up with Jen Aniston was contrived?

John Mayer spilled his guts to the press http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am8Y9Uzkbv4 about his break up with Jennifer Aniston. Typically celebs don't do this. Did John just reach a breaking point or was this his way to let everyone know that he dumped her? Talking to the press doesnt get them to leave you alone, any smart person would know that. I like John Mayer but have to wonder if there was more than meets the eye here.

I think it sounded like frustration. Maybe he just had a little meltdown and couldn't help venting.
