Question:

Do you think Jr. will retaliate on the track despite SAYING the issue is behind them? Where will it happen?

I am not a particular fan of either driver, though I certainly prefer Jr.'s personality to that of Kyle Busch.

I watched the interviews after the race and later this week as the two drivers claim to have put the issue to rest.

But I have to believe that Jr. ... or some Hendrick ally ... is almost REQUIRED to retaliate at some point. Kyle Busch is cocky and arrogant and has many (not all) of the garage gunning for him. Some might say he likes this, and it is possible. But I also think payback is coming.

Darlington is not a good place for payback -- you have to race the track more than you race the other drivers.

Charlotte is a little better, but as fast as it runs, it's not the ideal place to seek revenge. You CAN wreck somebody, as Kyle learned at the hands of his big brother in last year's All-Star Race.

So IF it was to occur, where do you think the payback will come? I'll reveal my prediction after I hear from y'all.

  1. Right now, the whole garage is gunning for Busch - he is the points leader. For JR to ever retaliate, he would have to catch Busch. It's a long way to go to get to September. It could get really fun! I'm willing to bet if we looked at the scorecard, more cars have been moved off of Earnhardt's bumpers than have been moved off of Busch's.

  2. I believe that Junior has always been and will always be a clean racer.  He doesn't need to retaliate or have vengence he is very calm about it.  He has though been very depressed as of late.  No he won't hurt the Shrub even though some of us want to

  3. I gotta hand it to Earnhardt, he could have ripped Wreckless Busch a new one after the race, but he didn't. I have no reason to believe he will go out and seek revenge on the track any other way but to try to beat him. There was a time in his career that I would have been on the lookout for payback, but he has matured quite a bit in the last year or so. I believe that part of that maturity has a little bit to do with Rick Hendrick, as well as his own choices.

Now, that having been said, I don't look for Earnhardt to back off if that same situation were to occur again. He will have it in the back of his mind, and will position himself accordingly. He has his eye on the big prize, and that is a championship. You can't go around racing these guys with a hidden agenda if you want to win it all......

    Good luck Dale Jr.!

  4. No one is going to retaliate, besides the fans.  The drivers know whats going on far more than the fans do, and the drivers are far more level headed.  No one will retaliate.  Sorry to bust your bubbles, but nothing is going to happen.

  5. i'am not a big fan of either but i would have to say i think dale jr is telling the truth because he knows if he does something stupied it could hurt him so since he said the issue is to rest i think he will stick to it.. if not he would do something the next race.

  6. I'm sure there is a part of Jr Nation that wants him to...I'm not a part of that Nation...Dale Jr is not going to do something that dumb like retaliate, I'm sure if he and the shrub race hard again, the fans will want it but...Dale Jr just keep driving smart. I'm sure if he had wrecked the Shrub, oh yeah there would be major retaliation.... Dale Jr is just not that kinda driver, he has way to much class for that.. That lady in Black (aka Darlington) has her own ways of being wicked.. Without the drivers doing something stupid.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  7. There was a time when I believed retaliation was a possibility last year with JPM and it never really came except for Harvick wanting to get a piece of him that one time. So I don't know if there's a plot swirling around the garage or not. I don't see Junior's teammates coming to avenge his honor. "Team" doesn't seem to hold much water this year at Hendrick. They seem to be four cars and four drivers and no "team". I think Jeff's pride is bruised with the flag bearer of NASCAR now in the Hendrick stable and I think Jimmie Johnson is swimming upstream in that same vein. Casey Mears has all but dropped off the map at Hendrick. Rick Hendrick must be ready to pull his hair out.

So, my answer is, no, I don't expect retaliation. BUT, I'd gladly eat my words if it did happen.

  8. I personally do not think he will retaliate.  What I would like to see is the same thing going down in a chase race and the outcome is different.  Only change one thing Kyle ends up 43rd instead of 15th.  But Junior himself will not go and retaliate, that is the kind of driver that he is.  HE RESPECTS OTHER DRIVERS.

  9. What is there to retaliate about. Junior got wrecked while racing Kyle. Going into the turn Kyle got a little loose and Junior came down on him. They were both racing hard and Junior got the short end of the stick. Get over it.

  10. I think Jr., and the people at HMS are above that.

I wouldn't put it past them to throw a little extra blocking or traffic in his way.

But they won't wreck him intentionally.

  11. I think the days of retaliating in the next few weeks are over. There are still rivalries but it doesn't incledu wrecking eachother every week like it used to be. I remember seeing Kurt Busch and Jimmy Spencer wreck eachother every week but those times are gone. I can't say I have any real proof behind this but I can say that I haven't noticed any payback the following week since about 2003.

  12. <<<<<Thats what I say to JR.  Who cares.  Shrub is 10 times the driver "dumb dumb" dreams of being.

  13. don't think he will do anything, hes looking for a championship not for someone to get in his way.plus he doesn't have his dads attitude! least not yet!!

  14. Kyle is not my favorite driver, but what happen was a racing thing.   At least JR is grown up enough to see it that way too.

I do not think that Jr will be out to put Kyle in the wall, but if they ever get together this year again it will be another great news story.

Let's see what happens at Dover.....

  15. I don't think Jr will stoop that low.  He is the type of driver that will race you as he wants you to race him.  He hates controversy and doing something out of revenge will just stir more of that up.  He is a proud driver and is proud of his reputation and is trying to build his own one not in his fathers shadow.

  16. The way I see it now is NASCAR will be watching the 18 and 88 cars(also throw in the 55 and 5).When thes cars are near each other the officials will be watching for rough driver excesive "bump" drafting and a host of other "accident" in the making problems.

    Bottom lin no retaliation.
