Do you think Justice was served in TEXAS tonight ?

HUNTSVILLE -- The state of Texas defied an international court tonight and executed Jose Medellin for raping and murdering two Houston teenage girls 15 years ago.

About a half-hour earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court had rejected a last-minute appeal to stay the execution, originally scheduled for 6 p.m. Medellin, 33, was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m., nine minutes after the lethal dose was administered.

Medellin was apologetic in his final statement when he said: "I'm sorry that my actions brought you pain. I hope this brings you the closure that you seek.''http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5924476.html

To paraphrase one of my favorite sayings: It’s God’s job to judge; Texas just arranged the meeting.

What are your thoughts on this breaking news ?

  1. Justice was served, it just took far too long. He lived longer in prison than one of his victims' total life.

  2. The sentence was carried out that the crime demanded. These two girls were friends, 14 and16 years old. All they were doing was walking home together. They were raped, beaten and murdered by this group of boys who thought it would be a fun gang initiation. He was guilty of killing two innocent girls .Their families have been deprived of having them in their lives for 15 years while this has dragged on in the courts. If you live in this country , you should come here knowing that you will be judged by the court system here. Everyone would have been better off had this guy never come . The fact that he did was his choice, the fact that he participated in this gang was his choice, he chose not to say stop, he chose not to leave, he chose to take a life. The people of Houston chose to send a message. Kill children and you will die. Yes, God will judge but he is going to be a lot harder on those who promote and sympathize  with murders of the innocent , than he will be with those who convicted him and carried out the punishment.

Justice is not something any person can give those parents. The people of Texas can only do what the laws allow.

  3. WHOOT another killer gone for good and the libs wept.

  4. Too bad he couldn't be executed three times

  5. I don't think is important to combine the issues and it will certainly not bring does girls back

From the story,Elaine Jackson of Houston, who identified herself as a friend of the Pena family, was among those supporting the execution.

"The girls didn't get a second chance, why should he?" she demanded. "Why should he keep on breathing?"

This was very disturbing ,Prison spokeswoman Michelle Lyons said the parents were barred from the prison after they were overheard plotting an escape for Medellin. He did the crime and now he had to pay the price.

  6. he did deserve far more than a painless death .

i would like to ask u to not use the death of those two girls against the rest of the undocumented who have never committed such acts .

  7. I believe we are to obey the laws of the land.  This was a horrible crime and the sentence was justified.  The crime wasn't committed on an International stage, but within our boundaries where our laws reign

  8. He got what he deserved. I hope the 3 teens that killed the Mexican in PA get the same thing!

  9. Well, if he was guilty, he received his punishment. If he was innocent, then something very wrong happened.

Since I don't know the truth, that is all I can tell

  10. Absolutely yes!!  Good riddance to that garbage.

  11. Yes it was and may I say way over due.

Pena Family and  Ertman Family you have finally received Some justice tonight. I'm sorry but if someone every hurt my babies like those b******s did to those precious young girls, I believe strongly I would want them to be executed. It's true it is God's job to judge. But that's something I would be willing to live with.

I have to say also that I was a little upset when I heard Mexico was so angry. I mean come on we have so many illegal immigrants living in the U.S. Do something about that.

  12. One less mouth for the state to feed

  13. i have mixed feelings cuz i mean he did deserve to die but u know killing him wont bring those girls back

  14. Most definitely. Why does it take so long?.

  15. Texas defied an international court...........I'm sorry but give me a break.

  16. He should have been dead a long time ago.

  17. Justice was served.

Once he was convicted, he should have been given 2 appeals which both should have taken a week. After that, the judge should have grabbed him by his collar and taken him out back.

Then whatever family he still had should have been billed for the bullet.

  18. I Believe nut burning for this crime is the appropriate treatment during rhe appeal prossess . Then the head in the vice slow execution .

Same goes for the open border amnesty nuts , they are just as guilty for aiding and abbeding this crime .this is going on everyday in this country , this is not an isolated insident .

Lawlessness leads to anarchy . and it will get worse if we the people let it .

Get mad , get informed , get active .

  19. I think it takes too long to bring these killers to justice. They languish in jail with a bed and 3 meals a day paid for by our taxes for years. Appeal, h**l!! I would give them 6 months to have a new trial if warranted and after that, see ya.Also, I think the lethal injection is too humane for thaese monsters.

  20. Look, I'm a Liberal, but this guy deserved what he got.   This country let's loose a guy who raped a ten year old, puts him on a stupid s*x registry, and keep in mind WE cant harass him, or post pictures of him in our neighborhoods because you know...the rapist has rights..blah blah blah. (I'm describing a freakin nut case who happens to live three blocks from my house!)   Rapists and Molesters lose rights when they commit these horrendous acts.   If you ask me, ALL of them need to be put to death.  Its a sickness that will never be cured.   Unbelievable..yet a guy selling weed gets a longer prison sentence...I cant believe it sometimes.

Good for him.  They should have burned his nuts off first.

EDIT:  Its not about the fact that killing him wont bring back the girls....

FOR GOODNESS SAKE...WE ARE GETTING RID OF A SICK b*****d...ONE LESS DOWN ON EARTH!  WHY DOES HE NEED TO LIVE???

  21. I know killing him wont bring those two girls back but executing him was the right thing.

  22. JUSTICE WAS SERVED

  23. I am against the death penalty because innocent people get killed there. He did admit to it so I guess its OK here. I don't think it is a deterrentthough. It actually has been shown to increase the likelihood of murder as assailants want to cover their tracks by getting rid of witnesses.

  24. the thing is im againts the death penalty, so to answer your question, was justice served? no, and as you said killing this guy wont bring the girls back, nevermind stopping others from doing this (yes the death penalty is not a deterrant for more attacks).

AS for the whole legal illegal its completly irrelevant..

I dont think is important to combine the issues and it will certainly not bring does girls back

  25. Yes

  26. I know that justice was served in this case just as it was for six other non-citizens when the current President Bush was Governor of Texas.

As for those who are saying that "the death penalty is not a deterrent".  I beg to differ.  Most of these attacks are committed by most of the SAME individuals.  Does the words Repeat Offenders ring a bell?!  So if they were all put to death for such hannis crimes, (murders and rapes) there would be a lot less of these sorts of attacks committed.  The death penalty is the consequences of ones actions who had so little disregard for others lives.

  27. For this case, there is no doubt in my mind. My only concern is why did it take so long to get to this point?

  28. without a doubt, international law has never punished anyone for their crimes. I'm glad he was executed for his crimes
