She was well educated. She was used and abused by the establishment and finally executed along with her husband Guilford Dudley when it wasn't their fault.

  1. What honour would she be given? When speaking of said time period her name is hardly ever left out, it did play something scandalous and interesting into the line of succession - but an honour as being a Queen of England? And for what, nine days? Yes, and no. Perhaps she does deserve at least something for having been kicked onto the throne, then off again and right into the executioners wake. But that is recognizing detail. If one looks at the much larger picture, the people that reigned before AND after her had so much more of a tighter grasp on the power, the people and the throne. Their legacy and 'story' after their deaths is far more memorable. Bring up the names Bloody Mary, Henry VIII, Edward VI, Elizabeth I and then toss in Lady Jane Grey, I bet that people are going to pause and ask who that was...

So yes, people shouldn't just brush her off, she should be recognized - but not, to my liking, as a REAL and TRUE Queen of England.

    Cheers!

  2. She was never acknowledged because her accession was illegal.  As a minor, King Edward VI did not have the authority to put aside the terms of his father's will, which were that Mary, and then Elizabeth, should follow Edward in the succession.

She could have refused the crown if she had wanted to, but she didn't do so.

  3. Absolutely. If she had been allowed to reign alone she would probably have made one of the greatest rulers in history

  4. She sort of is acknowledged but - she wasn't crowned, didn't have the support of the nobles and Parliament and reigned for such a short time that she is seen almost as a usurper not as a true queen.

There is also a case for King Louis VII of France to be acknowledged as a King of England.

  5. She cannot and never will be honoured as Queen Jane because she wasn't the rightful heir to the throne. The rightful heir to the Throne,Queen Mary honoured her  birthright with the acceptance and tribulation of the public, when She rode through the streets of London to regain Her Kingdom. We don't honour usurpers: Jane could simply have renounced the false accession - she didn't.
