  1. it would be like any other olympics but i thought that beijing did a really good job

  2. NO

  3. Are you kidding? At least they won't claim their female gymnasts are 16 when they are really 7.....The I.O.C is a joke for not taking these medals away from China....

  4. They will do it differently & at about half the cost.

The Chinese ceremonies were all about getting lots of people together performing synchronized routines for effect & to show its heritage.

London's games will be different because unlike China they have nothing to prove to the world. Them hosting the games is an opportunity to regenerate a run down area of East London.

One of the reasons why London won the bid for the games is because it promised a 'green' games. The facilities built will be used for years after - the staduim planned can be dismantled. Unlike staduims of the past such as the one in Athens which is now sadly unused, it will not be a waste of millions. Despite this, the stadium in London has a very simplistic design, but yet will be the most expensive staduim in the history of olympics.

Another reason the games were won is because of the legacy to inspire youths to take up sport. This is why the logo is bright & simplistic (personally dont like the logo, but see the point trying to be made). Londons opening ceromony will be no where NEAR the size/scale of Beijings. It will be a very modern event, in the 8 minute handover we saw contemporary dance that noone seemed to appreciate. I liked the handover up until the bit where Leona Lewis came out - that song was dreadful. But I liked the first half. Its being critisized heavily, but there was only a small amount of space, and what seems to be misunderstood is that these games will be different to any other games, its not going to be everybody structured and in sync like beijings; its about embrassing & encouraging individuality.

Chinas games seem to be defined by the opening and closing ceremonies. But this is not what the games are about. Londons games will be full of passionate fans in the stadiums. Hopefully the British wont boo winners of gold medals from other countries like I saw some of the Chinese do in events such as Boxing & I would hope that the judges this time around will be fair - on many occassions in taekwondo, gymnastics, boxing, I saw points not awarded that should have been.

Sure Beijings performances were amazing and everyone was perfectly formed/behaved, but i saw little personality and vibrance.

In summary Chinas ceremonies were good, the games themselves? Im not so sure if the were so good. But since when did the olympic games get judged by some fireworks before and after? (supposedly werent even real).

Sorry, wasnt meant to be this long :) XXXX

  5. I expect it will be less well organised but more fun.  I think this article sums up what the difference will be between Beijing and London.

  6. It all depends on how you look at it.

If you want an answer to - Is London going to be better in the technical aspect? Then the answer would be no because here in the UK we don't have the same sort of money and experience that China had in order to make this happen.

However, if you're talking about the atmosphere and general enjoyment then I think, here in the UK and especially in London, we will beat the Chinese by far. We generally have a more relaxed atmosphere so it will be easier to enjoy the games.

At the end of the day though I don't think we will have the real answers until the games are over in 2012 because we always pull out something amazing at the last minute, but you never know.

    =D

  7. They can't do any worse than Atlanta 1996.

  8. Yeah some fit bird will lip sink to Charlotte Church singing and the fireworks will be done by CGI

  9. I really think so. This city is very experienced when it comes to the olympics being that this is the 3rd time that London will host.

These games will be very simple and will be a great olympics throughout the whole 2 weeks, not just in the ceremonies.
